I want to post a lengthy post, but I don't have the time any more to be on here as much as I used to be... Grrrrrrr....... I cannot check the forums while I am at work during the day now.

Bottom line? I am suffering. I don't feel good about myself, I am struggling with my new job, I feel very insecure overall right now, I am 15 lbs. heavier than I usually am, and I am just having trouble all around. When I am around my friends lately, I am not my usual lighthearted, fun-loving self.

I am trying to use the "fake it til you make it" routine, but does that even work?

Hi golden_eve. In regards to your question:

For me, I've used, and still do use, the 'fake it til you make it' approach, in various situations but even after twenty years of doing so, I'm really no better off [twenty years!] - but, my case and your case are probably two different things.

I'm pretty sure you'd be the kind of person to utilize and adopt multiple positive approaches through whatever internal struggles you might be facing, so, if none of those things are having the desired effect, I wonder if meds might be the next step? Bearing in mind the list of possible side effects any of these meds may present you with, on top of everything else, as well. Sorry if I sound a little pessimistic.

Anyway, good on you golden_eve, I hope everything settles down for you soon. Maybe you're still in the 'settling in' phase of your new job. Stress can really take it out of a person.

Thank you, Mote!

I am on meds actually.... I don't want to increase the dosage right now though.

Yeah, I suppose I do have a few survival tactics I can use, and I am.... I try to think of any positives I can hold onto each morning, but it's not helping me to feel much better.

And, yeah, part of it is the new job, but it's also my weight too. Stress really does wear on a person.

You're welcome golden_eve. Yes, it's a battle to stay positive isn't it. I can relate. Good on you, though.

So, the weight gain: do you think it might be a side effect of the meds you're taking? Because it's a common side effect of a few different meds. I gained a boatload of weight due to meds once, but did manage to lose it all again. I do feel happier for it, yes.

I'm sorry you're feeling so stressed. I do believe you can handle it, though. Are you receiving any support at the moment?

Yes, get on a diet, shed those pounds. You're quite a spiritual person too, from what I remember in another thread. Do you do a morning reading from a favourite spiritual source? That can help too sometimes - 'handing it over'.

All the best to you golden_eve. Things will come right soon, I do sense that. Don't forget, you're a good person as well, which places you above half these other people out there.

Some days the "fake it... " works, other days I can't even get in the mindset to put on a face.

I am sorry you are suffering. I can relate to the same feelings you are having. It is miserable. I am hoping you get a break from the feelings soon.

Thank you so much for your kind words, Mote!

I do have some spiritual practices.... maybe not spiritual, but relaxing, and yes, I am trying to diet.. I wish I could absorb your positive words about myself right now.... I just feel like such crap. GRRR.

I hear you... I feel the same exact way about the fake it til you make it routine. And so sorry you are suffering too. Big hugs to you and strength to you!
