Other than that, I am fine I guess.

Don't know how to deal with my hunger problem. It's sure going to make me very fat if I continue eating so much.
Feeling hopeless.
I went through that too. I started eating "negative calorie" food like celery and lettuce. It filled me up so I didn't eat junk between meals.

I want to scream! The pharmacy all of a sudden says my Prozac isn't covered under insurance and it will cost me $600. !!!! I've got to get this straightened out.

Aren't they all?

We've all heard of the fight or flight reflex. What isn't as generally well known is that anxiety can trigger a fight, flight or FREEZE reaction.

I tend to do the last one. It's so bad at times I don't even get the normal physical symptoms -- which is a huge problem with regard to the standard diagnostic tests. But I experience agonizing internal suffering and then shut down.

Or you could be getting triggered and overwhelmed by your emotions ... so your mind tries to shut it out.

In any event, in the absence of more effective responses, it's your psyche doing it's poor best to protect yourself the only way it knows how.

Thank you for posting Ceph.

I can certainly empathise with you. I do both of these.

Our brains respond to protect us. I guess this is a big part of why normal therapies (and for me meds) don't help us.

Thanks.

You know, my first reaction is that the mind resorting to such a feeble and avoidant response is really sad and pitiful. That that's the best it can do.

But then, it shows that no matter how bad our self-image and inner critic may be, some part of us *does* care and wants to lessen the hurt. Wants to make it better.

It's like a small child trying to comfort an adult without any real understanding of why they are sad. And sometimes all the adult can do is smile sadly and hug them for trying and being human.

Maybe something to remember the next time your responses kick in ....

Thanks, yes, i think my brain is under developed emotionally (because of CEN) and has also become damaged by trauma. It shuts down as if it were a small child.

I was also thinking of you when I wrote this. The next time you feel worthless and bad. Try to remember that these "maladaptive" coping responses are proof that some part of you does not believe that. It does not give up on you.

today I am throwing away the DSM-5 into my trash can...
I have a depression and anxiety problem...no question.....
but I am going to LIFESTYLE MEDICINE....as much as I can do...
I am not going to say for me that there is no recovery...
I hope that I feel a little more happy and healthy..
I am sick of staying in this awful depression hole...
