Depression Vent Room for Misfits

I'm having a difficult time this morning. My cat's been sick and I have to take her back to the vet in the morning. It's all very stressful. On top of that, my job search was a failure. No one wants me. I've been away from work for too long. I don't have the latest skills. Other areas of my life aren't going well either. On a good note, I have a home, food, family and friends. I also have two lovely cats. I'm just very depressed at the moment. It's clouding my judgment.

I've been depressed & down in other ways for a while, but I'm better today. I'm feeling newer & relieved, and thankful.

I'm feeling better this morning. And I'm happy that my cat is better too. The vet found the problem and was able to take care of it right away. I'm also glad I don't have a job right now. I need to take care of myself at the moment. I have my health to think about.

Tried to ask for prayers, ( At Jesus feet) not able to for some reason. Would appreciate any if possible. Difficult getting thru each day. Used to go to bed by 10pm. This year 2-4 am each day. Thanks

I will be happy to pray for you! I am convinced that sincere prayer works. Also, I have been prescribed medications that have helped me sleep better. If you have been dealing with insomnia for a long time--have you consulted with a healthcare provider?

Do you ''suffer from transference''.. if so, what does that mean?

A therapist encouraged ''transference'' (irl...)

I think I have experienced it. I felt like one of my supervisors was a second father to me; I felt like my neighbors next door were grandparents to me.

Transference can be a good feeling (the examples I cite above); it can also be messy. If you read some of the posts in the psychoanalysis forum, it shows how sometimes people develop romantic feelings for their therapist--we know these feelings are inappropriate but when a person is not used to getting loving attention--sometimes our emotions overreact. We all need love and attention.

Thanks for sharing. I wonder if in some pre-historic forests irl sometimes ALL transference is pathologized (etc) or misused (not always...)

Been Down So Long It Looks Like Up to Me

Today I visited the Swiss Alps & Scottish islands via tv travelogues, & it gave me a lift.

I'm a horrible person.

Dear @Fuzzybear, you are one of the last members of this planet who would be thought of as horrible. You are so very sensitive! Horrible people & bears are extremely INsensitive! You are keeper!!

Had my 3 month (virtual) follow-up appointment with my pdoc today. It took all of maybe 10 minutes if that? What is there to say? Nothing really. Everything simply is what it is.

I'm feeling depressed tonight. I had some bad thoughts come up that haven't been there in a while. It's late in the day. It was gray all day. I feel tired. I think all those things are affecting my mood. The only thing I can do is go to bed. Maybe if I meditate, I might feel better.

This is a great idea.
