fir myself.. I surround myself.. with the familiar...lol.. it is the re-runs of a show like "Everyone Loves Raymond"... I used to have certain vidoes that I saved... that I watched over and over - the familiarity of the "sameness" of the show... made the "inside" me feel grounded...

I found it really hard to stay grounded until I learnt to want to stay grounded. Escape is safe. I had to experience that staying could be safe too at certain times (eg with my t) and I had to find a benefit in staying present to be able to fight going away. I usually try to move a little to stop me from going away. Shift my head a little or move my fingers or move my eyes to a different object.

Not looking at him is about keeping aspects of self hidden/secret. We know that is not the healthy choice. Keep working on this - you will get there.

Accept there are parts. Be kind and gentle with them. Working with parts and feelings is the key to happiness. We have been happy before when listened to them and accepted them and were open to feelings. Write in your journal - it is safe to do so.

I'm a really tactile person - so I have to touch and feel stuff. Wrapping myself up in warm shawl, and even just concentrating on what the feeling of the material on the chair is, and what the floor feels like under my feet - When I was in hospital I took in a small really fluffy stuffed dog and when things got too intense for me, I'd just sit and concentrate on the feeling of holding him.

It's all got to be physical contact for me.
