It is actually very rare to be diagnosed with DID in the UK. Many people get misdiagnosed for years. GP's are not that clued up on it, and you have to be referred to a specialist. So, getting information on DID is very difficult here.

Headaches are common with DID, as are other symptoms that are associated with stress.

Hope you feel better soon. (((((((((((((( Roz ))))))))))))))))) Why don't NHS docs tell us ....

That's hard. I'm so thankful for my T. I only get info from her because I don't want to get wrong information or have my brain latch on to anything. I can't imagine if she didn't know what was going on with me. I was/am pretty clueless. Why don't NHS docs tell us ....

Its hard to know what the cause is. Im a migraine sufferer and also DID. I dont know whats going on helf the time but i spend a lot of time with bad heads and tummy nausea. I dont think the NHS is too hot on DID, i know my GP has problems understanding. She does try though

i talked to my daughter sarah, just today, about all the "psychosomatic" illnesses i had for so long and how they kept saying there's nothing really wrong with you.....

they meant there's nothing strictly organic wrong with you. there was plenty wrong: migraines, nausea, colitis, weakness and just feeling sickish all over. i spent years feeling shamed like i must be some rotten faker and there were real things wrong. my body was struggling due to the ghastly nightmares locked up inside my memory and my alters memories. so many united states doctors did tests and then shrugged their shoulders and said i just "had trouble handling stress". your darn right i did, the stress of years of nightmare physical, sexual, emotional and satanic ritual abuse. my body is still affected by stress even though i am pursuing wellness. i am still angry over being shamed like a hypochondriac when i was actually a person who was violently and cruelly abused for so many years from infancy into my mid-teens. grrrr!!!

I have migraines and feel sick to my stomach many times. I eat very healthy so it is not the food. Sometimes I feel real weird, like I'm not here, just an observer.

Doc's used to give me ekg, eeg, and valium to keep me from acting out when I was a kid. After a while I learned to control episodes of splitting.

Later in life, 40 years later, it all came back. The splitting is controlled by Zoloft and the insomnia by Valium.

I don't think the Doc's really know what they are dealing with sometimes.

By the way, NHS docs are not the only slow diagnosticians.

Not only did the doctors misdiagnose me but the pdocs and psychologists missed it and gave me all sorts of other diagnosis before one person got the thing right and got the DID.

I hate how long it takes to get things done correctly. It takes long enough to get over it why can't they help us by getting it down sooner. grrrr

I dont have DID just dissociate very occasionally now .... if ind i get headaches and feel dizzy when I've been triggered or if I'm out in a large crowd on my own..... i only learned this from my T and reading here .....

I think I dissociate more than I realise, it's just coming to terms with it ..... I've done it a lot looking back .

like 50 guy I sometimes feel like an observer or like I'm not really here ,,,

I stopped telling my non-psych Dr.s what psych meds I was taking.

Funny how if you don't tell them you're taking an anti-psychotic or mood stabilizers, and you don't write down that you've been dx'ed with a mental illness, they believe you when you tell them about your aches and pains.

They actually listen and dx you! Why don't NHS docs tell us ....

Mention Abilify or Lithium and BAM! They suddenly look at you with sad eyes and nod their heads as if that explains everything.

They don't hear you anymore. Ha! Story of my life.

So very true and yet if and when it does come out they say why didnt you tell us.
Think question should be why dont they tell us regardless of our diagnosis---
yes we may have a menatl health problem but does that mean that we can not get any physical problems and will always be physically well
l fear not
so l think this is such a good way to go to at least get them to listen

thanks mandyxx

That's why I don't go to physical doctors, I am afraid that any symptom will be written off as part of the mental illness, or as side effects of the meds. I've waited a month before to get a UTI treated!
I have been wanting to see a neurologist for some of my symptoms, but I am afraid to. Now I have a couple pdocs that are encouraging me to go. But, I know it will take me a long time to actually go.
I just thought of something as I'm typing this...Maybe I could have my pdoc write a letter that I could take, explaining my dx's and meds. I'll have to think about that.

HUGS!
