What do you do? What do you say? How can you get others to feed you healthy food when you are a guest? I am getting tired of this problem. I actually have food sensitivities which limit what I eat. It mentally wears me out talking about my food sensitivities, and sometimes I eat what is given to me and it really disagrees and makes me so very sick. I have to stop it.

When I am invited to dinner at a friends house I offer to bring something along with me so the person isn't ffooting the complete food bill. This naturally leads into menu planning. and in that process I let it be known for example that I am allergic to fish.

Just a little bit of it or say "Oh no that is off my diet!" You can always offer or just bring something.

Oh yes! When someone invites me to their home, I tell them right up, jovially, I'm tough to cook for... and if they are interested (they usually are) I have an opportunity to share either some of what I can't eat...or things that I enjoy... OR I invite them to meet at a restaurant instead of them having to cook!

I agree, not eating food that disagrees with us is important self care! TC!

Thankyou for the help offered. I unfortunately didn't speak up and ate foods that made me feel so very sick. I need prayers and encouragement. The reason is that I am just recently venturing outside a little bit more, trying to get out more and I really did not know how to do it. I gotta talk and respect myself and the way I am and accept the reality that I am living in, this is the body that I was given, which dosen't get along with MANY MANY foods that NORMAL people JUST eat, but I can't (I feel deathly ill, EVERY single time,....) Darn it I am so depressed. I started a new relationshp with a nice guy and keep eating things that I have allergies to. He likes food that makes me real sick. Gee the only food that I can eat is fruit, nuts, vegetables, and some fish and meats. It is a very boring diet and I need to socialize, but it can't be this way. People out there don't see it as my recovery (accepting the food allergies and avoiding sickening foods[for real-makes me toxic] oh man I feel shi...y thankyou all. I appreciate your prayers and want to be supportive of you guys too. I eat all the healthy stuff, (tastes mostly like crap) But ask me, I also have some great wheat free recipies, and some cool tasting regular recipies that really digest easily. I usuallly eat food that digests real easy. (I am limited-LITERALLY) MAN

Getting better with food choices. bending a tiny bit. Eating some of the foods, I hate. Still staying skinnier. Just telling my boyfriend, I wont eat certain foods (they would not be tolerated) Just yesterday though, I bought a big head of lettuce and added hard boiled eggs and a little cheese on his and some sunflower seeds, and radishes and tomatoes and cucumbers and some imatation crab meat, and on top some seseme dressing and a few crutons and we ate and he complained he was so so so full. I did eat some of the potatoes and onions that he fried. ( I hate eating crap like that, but guess what, it tasted good and wasn't too oily, but I did not eat very much of it, but it was ok and did not make me sick like I thought it would. So my eating disorder is not killing me, but sometimes it really does) Today I drank some sickening Green tea with sugar and almost puked. I still am on a weird diet Darn Darn, and weight my self and work out and worry about my size. You know I had to worry when I was up to 230 a year an a half ago from the medicines. Do you know what I mean Jelly bean???

Hey razel. I work with autistic children. I don't know if you're aware but people with autism tend to have problems with many foods too. Out of 6 children I work with five are on a special whest free gluten free, dairy free, everything basiclly free diet. But I have seen how sick a child can get if they eat something they can't have. It kills me to watch them stare at a bag of Dorittos thinking how hard it must be for these little guys. I sympathize with you but also know how important it is to watch what you eat. Did you ever think that maybe you wouldn't feel so depressed if you weren'y getting sick all the time? Try to stick with it for 2 months, and i mean be hard on yourself, don't cheat. I'm sure this guy isn't gonna leave you if he finds out you have food alergies if he does then he's weird and you shouldn't be with him anyway. Sorry to babble on about this but i see behaviors change drastically in my kids after going on the diet and just think you would feel better too.

When I have stayed away from those foods that I am so sensitive to, (which is possile and I have succeeded at) I feel wonderful, my thinking gets normal and everything. I appreciate that I know what to do, and if I take care to be true to myself, I will do better. I can not eat much wheat, milk prod. with higher than one percent, or beef at a large amount. I can eat turkey, chicken, fruits, vegetables, soy, peanuts, all nuts and have to eat seeds like flax and can eat corn and have to stay away from hydrogonated oil. I do better this way. I can eat fried food just not fried with hydrogonated oils. I have to limit my starch intake and especially high fat milk and wheat products. For some reason, eating fried potatoes, and any eggs fried, dosen't work (ever) for me, I have triedd and tried. I definately can not eat any icecream. That is the truth and sucks. I can not eat any pizza, and that sucks, much. I can not eat any french fries potatoes and can't eat home-fries, which really really sucks. I can't even enjoy eating bread and butter, andd that sucks sucks. I get sick from sugary coffee. that sucks. Man Man Man Man Darn Darn Darn. Why Why Why Why. I can't think right for days, for days and days just by eating the foods I listed and that is really really really really a shame. For most of my life, have been sick in the head more from those foods that I am now not trying to eat, because I want to live well and be able to just think alittle. I couldn't think hardly at all for most of my life. I have asked myself and the Dr. if I have Aspergers or high functioning autisim. When I was five, I went backwards and lost my ability to be social, lost my ability to express myself and I isolated and did repetivie activities. Since my mom and dad had a very bad marriage, they weren't noticing much. I also strarted to lose control of my bowels again in the school years.

From my years of research on the autism spectrum it sounds to me like you might be suffering from some kind of autism. Autism is fairly new and many children who have autism go undiagnosed. It is important to start intervention at as early an age as possible. I'm sorry you've gotten lost in your parents problems when you clearly needed guidance. You probably felt so isolated as a child and had no idea what was going on. Just know that there are many many many people like you out there and the numbers are growing. They are still trying to figure out the cause of autism but the diet has proven positive results in many. Keep on living hun and if you need someone to tak to who knows a little about how you feel sometimes, I'm here.
