What's the least amount of calories you can eat in a day that won't cause problems?

Hello I hope your diet is going well at this time. The BEST DIET that I have found is on the American Diabetes Associaiton Website. It gives you a meal planning guide (type in meal planning) and you will consume calories that work to keep you from gaining weight, and still let you be healthy. I have tried Hypoglycemia Diets (I have Hypoglycemia) and they work by allowing you to eat less food more often, you may coonsider this diet as well. Just be sure that any diet you try goes along with any other medication that you may be taking, certain drugs have food restrictions for safety reasons. TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) is a good weight loss group to join if it is available in your area, and works on food scales that are healthy as well. Take care Happy Holidays Sincerely Soidhonia

This is a neat site:

http://www.caloriecontrol.org/calcalcs.html

I figure out how much I want to weigh then put in that weight as if it were my current/maintenance weight and eat that many calories.

I do what perna does and so far have lost 30lbs. Its pretty easy too, just dont go over your allowed amount, and you still can eat alot of things most diets would freak over. Plus You would be suprised on how much veggies and stuff you can eat on this method for keeping in the range and its good for you also. Only bad thing is the skinnier and lighter you get the less amount your allowed, LOL.

Good luck to you!

Good wishes on this endeavor! I am hypoglycemic and need to purchase the other "half" of the foodstuffs I need, and I'll be right there with you on the good eating to lose weight track. Tomorrow is my diet start day

I want to lose 40lbs but I know the doctors will begin to say I've lost enough after I lose 30lbs. ((I'm 5'8" and at 198lbs) I have heavy bones (honest really!!!)so I look thinner than I am. I have a big conference I want to fly out to and that's the end of July (if I can manage it.)

I do eat a snack every 2 hours. I found that what many experts say is true, it's eating MORE that helps you lose weight... not of just anything, but of healthy foods. Try taking in healthy foods for a bit in addition to what you normally eat, then cut back on the poorer quality stuff...

2lbs a week loss is healthy... and that's what I want. That will be March 18th for me (30lbs) and May 20th for you sadeyes...Jax that would be Feb 18th for you Tomorrow is my diet start day (At 2lbs a week)

Good wishes all the way around! Don't eat everything at the parties now! Drink a glass of water before snacking at the parties, and take only one thing at a time (don't load up a small plate) Tomorrow is my diet start day

Guess I best make my fresh foods list for shopping tomorrow Tomorrow is my diet start day

I have to also lose 40+ pounds, In only almost 5 yrs I've gained that weight and now developed hypertension, I never had high or borderline high blood pressure, grrrrrrrr!
In fact I use to lean (no pun intended) towards low to normal blood pressure.
Turning 50 in January, the reality of near future, poor health is stressing me, but I need some coaching this time in my endeavor, just can't get motivated these days to return to daily exercise and stop the "lite" beers, I don't drink on a daily basis, but I'm sure the weekends account for the "belly".
I'm only 5'4" and this added weight is starting to hurt my joints, so I can use a motivational boost, too. Tomorrow is my diet start day
Take care now,
DE

I hear you DarkEyes on how the extra weight hurts your joints. I have Lupus and being this much overweight is definately putting such strain on my joints. We can all do this together!

I developed hypertension also, and my bones and moving around hurt at 240lbs. Just being down around 210 atm has made me feel a ton better, even though I dont look a ton skinnier. I still feel lighter... well obvioulsy I should. LOL

Hopefully my bloodpressure improves with the more weight I lose too. Its coming slowly, but being a man I dont need to fit into a little swimsuit by summer. Well maybe those speedo's.... J/K

Anyways everyone keep it up, oh another thing I do, is as I have been loosing weight I have had to punch new holes in my belt. I keep wearing the same belt and had to punch 4 holes past my normal hole. I wear it everyday and use this as motivation too. I shall not move in reverse on my belt! Even if it splits me in half.

Have a happy monday!

That has to be an awesome feeling Mark each time you are able to punch another hole in your belt!! I want to throw away any clothes that start to get big on me so that I can not go back to them if I gain a pound or two, that will hopefully keep me on track.
