I am 15 years old, 5'3 and 165 pounds. (I am overweight basically) My goal weight is at least 130 or lower (But not too low, I want to be healthy no offence to certain people with other eating disorders). I would like to get to my target weight in maybe a few months or less if possible. Yes I am a newbie at losing weight so I'm not all too sure how long it should take. And btw I'm PO! I can even afford the OR (In "Poor") (I can't go get expensive work out stuff) So all I really have when It comes to excersizing is a pair of 3lb dumbells and a trail outside my house (About 2 miles long). And ovbiously because I'm 15 I can't go many places because I do not have a car or a liscence. So I can't go to the grocery store all the time. So I mostly have to make due with Lowfat/fatfree yogurt, milk, water, vegetables, and ramen (I do have other foods but lets face it if I named every food I have then You all would get bored.) But yea, if someone could maybe help me find a way to lose that weight moderately fast that would be great.

I decided to get in shape about a year ago, and basically what I did was along with exercise, I pretty much just ate cereal(special K) whenever I was hungry. I ate regular food too, but always ate cereal whenever I wanted a snack or something. It didn't take long to lose weight, in fact I actually had to gain a bit of weight back(starting looking too thin).

Working out I didn't use a gym or anything. Since I have a Ps3 I used a game called EA Sports Active. I just used it to do cardio and stomach exercises maybe three times a week.

I worked out with weights too, but if you are just wanting to lose some weight you might not really want to bother with that, but I think cardio would help the best.

Good for with trying to lose some weight and get in shape. You're lucky you have a trail - if its safe to walk alone then go for a 45 min walk as if you're late for an appt and alternate with biking too. Weights are a fast way to get muscle definition. Ask your parents to buy you the Insanity Workout - its by far the best workout I've ever done. Its hard but you'll start to feel stronger in 3 days.

Don't skip meals since this actually slows down the metabolism. Eliminate unhealthy snacks and look at the fat content of snacks. Fiber 1 has good cereal bars and Special K also has low cal bars. You can treat yourself to baked chips if you're a chip eater. Avoid spending hours just sitting at the computer - this is the 1st time in history young people are so out of shape. Eat fruits /vegetable and cut down on the bread a little. Have pre-cut veggies in the fridge and if you need a dipping sauce, use lower fat dressing or none at all. When eating cereal pay attention to the serving size. Best of luck.

I would cut out the ramen since it has high sodium content which will make you retain water and keep the weight on. You need to find some lean protein sources such as tuna, egg whites, cottage cheese, chicken breast, ground turkey, etc. Portion control and exercise are key. The hardest thing about losing weight is that it doesn't happen immediately. On average you will only lose 1-2 pounds a week. Don't give up if you don't see immediate results. It is a slow, steady process. Good Luck!

hey, i gained 80 pounds on antipsychotics, but before that i was bodybuilding for 7 years and i was in great shape, basically cut down on your carbohydrates, sugar, and sodium.... personally i never watched calories, i just watched my carbohydrates, sugar, and sodium, and i was successfull. i ate every 3 or 4 hours, i would eat eggs, chilli, deer meat, salad, chicken, tuna, yogurt... basically anything that doesnt have alot of carbohydrates. sometimes i would eat beef jerky becuase its high in protien but it has alot of sodium. i was also taking creatine and protien powder. but since your a girl i wouldnt take creatine. unless your bodybuilding. but i did alot of cardio too. running on treadmill, oliptical machine, stepper machine..... but since u dont have access to that just walk and jog on the trail. try to get your heart rate elevated. doing cardio will make u loose weight, that means jogging on the trail. start out jogging for a minute then walking a minute and keep doing that untill u can jog the whole trail. when it gets cold out and u cant go on the trail , get a home workout program like insanity. cerial is good, but dont eat bread and pastas, and junk food, or fast food. i never ate bread or pastas. too many carbs., oh and certain medication can make it hard to loose weight , i dont know what kind of meds your on but look into it. do some research. google. hope this helps.

forgot to say something, i know u dont have access to weights but do some bodyweight squats and pushups 2 or 3 times a week, this will help build some muscle and the more muscle u have the more weight your body will burn resting. dont worry u wont get big bulky muscles from doing bodyweight squats and pushups, women can workout alot and not get big becuase they have different hormones then men.

All good tips and advice. Don't forget to drink lots of water. At least 2 liters a day.

A tip if you feel like snacking on something unhealthy - go brush your teeth! Nobody wants to snack on a clean mouth.

you don't need to go anywhere or spend money to get fit, try pressups, situps, body squats, pull ups on a door frame, star jumps etc. use tin cans or bottles of water as weights for arm exercises. housework and hovering are all good exercises, running up and down stairs or steps is great for leg work and cardio stuff. jog on the spot whilst getting dressed, dance to your favourite music for a while each day, skip/jump rope, help with the gardening, teach yourself to juggle using rolled up socks or try hand stands/ walking on your hands (even if you don't succeed you get exercise trying!) put things you use a lot on the top of the wardrobe or top shelf so you have to stretch to reach them, keep shoes under the bed, pushed right under so you have to bend down and stretch to reach them after all every little helps! the main thing is to keep moving, don't sit and watch TV or play on the computer for hours on end, get up and move around. at meal times watch your portion size as well, try making the effort to leave a little on your plate at the end of the meal, that way you will have eaten less than if you ate the lot. remove visible fat from meat, scrape butter/margarine on your bread rather than load it on, softened butter spreads easier than hard butter so you use less, have fruit with your cerial for breakfast rather than toast, drink a glass of water 10 minutes before your meals, you will not feel so hungry and the water will make less space for food in your tummy so you will feel fuller sooner meaning you will automatically eat less. when you feel hungry between meals drink a glass of water and wait fifteen minutes before reaching for a snack, often you will find you don't need the snack as the water has satisfied the craving, if not then diluted sugar free cordials make great ice lollies for those times when you crave a sweet snack. sugar free jello also works. at 15 you probably still like sweets, so remember that jelly sweets like haribos are less calorific than chocolate bars and baked crisps/chips are better than fried ones.
just remember at 15 you still need plenty vitamins, minerals etc as your body is still preparing for adulthood so do not go mad cutting out loads of things, set yourself a target of losing 4 - 6 pounds per month, at your age it is much better to watch the amount of sugars and fats you consume and use exercise to bring your weight in line. remember also that fitness is more important than weight as muscle weighs more than fat does.

You’re young so good for you for taking charge now as it gets tougher to lose it when you’re older.

I’m the oldest of five and we have all discussed this on and off over the years. The best bit of advice I ever got was to eat less and move more.

Best wishes, take care.

Oh, another tip, get a step pedometer. The really simple ones are cheap, maybe $10. Where I live you can actually borrow a pedometer from the library. Studies show that your basic activity level, not from doing dedicated exercise is very important.

The difference between having a job were you sit all day versus a job where you stand or walk around all day is enormous. You burn a lot of calories without even having a set time for exercise. It's been shown that getting 10,000 steps in daily on average long term will lead to weight loss.

It's as simple as an hour walk a day or a 30 min walk and lots of pacing or getting off early at the bus stops everyday. I just got a Striiv Smart Pedometer, it's way more expensive than a normal pedometer, but it basically does the same thing. It counts steps. With mine I earn energy points when I move around and I can spend those energy points to plant things or build buildings in this game on the Striiv.

I can also use up my energy points to donate clean water, polio vaccines or save a section of the rainforest. I can do this with just my energy points. I don't need to spend any real money. It's very motivating! Also the Striiv gives you mini challenges throughout the day that give you bonus energy, things like "I challenge you do climb 200 stairs in the next 15 mins or something. I find myself climbing way more stairs then I would have otherwise have done, to get the bonus energy points!

Again the Striiv is a bit expensive, mine was $100, but a basic cheapo pedometer basically does the same thing without the games aspect of it. If you're motivated by shear data, a regular pedometer would be fine. I need the games. LOL It's really making me realize when I'm just sitting doing nothing.

Instead of sitting around I find myself getting up every few minutes to climb a bunch of stairs or pace around until I meet a goal. Instead of taking two buses to work, I walk 25 mins to catch the second bus now when the weather is good. So far, since I've gotten it I've walked over 10,000 steps everyday and average about 700 steps climbs upstairs per day!

Do not sit for prolonged periods - sitting leads to obesity. Put your laptop on the floor and stay on your tummy when you use it. If you are alone, eat while standing - put your plate on the counter in the kitchen. When you have company, you will obviously want to sit down together, but while alone you can manage without sitting down. Exercise does not help if you are too sedentary, especially in terms of longevity which is a bit early for you to be concerned about, but still. Sitting itself is really really bad so cutting out as much as possible is the way to go.

If you are committed to losing weight, have a plan for eating and exercising. Meals need to be balanced. The largest portion of your plate should be your vegetables. Portion sizes in meat and whole grains have to be managed very carefully. I think walking is a great exercise as long as you get your heart rate up. There is a wonderful free site called SparkPeople.com You will get lots of information and support. Good luck and hang in there!

Having tried walking, biking, and breaststroke swimming, I can tell that biking works best for weight loss. The easiest way to incorporate biking into your life is through commuting.

Mostly exercise is good for all of us. Do regular exercise it is good for health and also fitness. walking, jogging swimming and yoga are the main to stay healthy and to lose weight.

You can also do regular exercise without disturbing your routine just like use stairs instead of lift. clean the floor of your home. wash cloths etc

Brisk walk, skipping, cycling are best way to lose weight.
Eat small meals and balanced diet. Best idea is not to stuff yourself with food at a point of time.

I made the decision to get in form about a season ago, and generally what I did was along with work out, I fairly much just ate cereal whenever I was starving. I ate frequent meals too, but always ate cereals whenever I desired a snack meals or something. It didn't take lengthy to shed body weight, actually I actually had to obtain a bit of body weight back
