Good job Bizi! It's awesome to see how you get right back up after a bump in the road. You should be proud of yourself... I am!

We went to a mardi gras party before the parades.
There was a whole table full of good food. I had stopped by whole foods on the way home and had 2 beers in a short amount of time. Then one more at the party. But I ate: chicken and part of a pork steak. mac and cheese, 2 different kinds spicy green beans, think tabasco 3 lemon bars, one was a raspberry bar. fruit, pinaple and keywee and straw berries and blueberries. king cake a small slice. It doesn't sound too too bad now that I look at it. Just had been really good about portion control and not over eating. I think having the beer ahead of time made it too easy to over eat and derail my diet. Poor decisions on my part. Before heading home I bought some hard sparkling adult beverage with only 100 calories and a hint of grapefruit. They are called truly, a 6 pack. Which means that I was planning to drink more than just last night. Sigh My resolve went out the window. I knew this would happen during mardi gras which is until fat tuesday Feb-13th then lent begins(ash wednesday which is also valentines day) and I will give up alcohol for lent which ends with easter. I drank 3 beers total so that was not horrible! bizi __________________ lamictal 2x a day haldol 2x a day cogentin 2x a day klonipin , 1mg at night, fish oil coq10 multi vit,, vit c, at noon, tumeric, caffeine Remeron at night, zyprexa, requip2-4mg |

170.0 this morning, still slowly clawing lower. At 164, my BMI will be 24.9. Should be there sometime in March, maybe early April.

I made a full size chicken pie for dinner. I have to estimate; my slice was not very big but with crust top and bottom, I went with 500. Probably in the ballpark. Still having oatmeal as often as I can; twice today. Will be interesting to check LDL in a few weeks. Between adding oatmeal and no longer having full fat yogurt, I am hoping it will drop under 100.

So, I have been reading up on adaptive thermogenesis - metabolism dropping as you lose weight. The figures I have seen widely quoted are a drop of under 10%. but it looks like some studies are finding drops of more like 20-25%:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3673773/ My own anecdotal experience doesn't seem to bear this out though. I have lost over 50 pounds and currently eat about 500 calories less per day than predicted burn. I lose about a pound a week, which makes sense if you do the math 7X500=3500 and a deficit of 3500 will cause a pound of fat loss (conversely, overeating by 3500 calories will cause a 1 pound gain in fat). If I had a significant drop in metabolism, I would be losing weight more slowly. When I gained back the weight I lost in the past, it was bingeing and generally overeating that did it. I still believe I can make the lifestyle changes to keep it off. __________________ | |Up and down |And in the end it's only round and round |Pink Floyd - Us and Them | |bipolar II, substance use disorder, ADD |lamictal, straterra

Today I was pretty busy. I did not workout all weekend. I had events to go to the whole weekend. MFP calories for today 1,702 (I went over my calories). Apple Watch steps 3,559. Water intake 43.5oz. I won a 30oz water bottle at a Super Bowl party today.

My problem lately is that I deprive myself of what I want to eat until I can't take it anymore and then I eat everything I've been craving, and then some. It's not working out too well for me.

My not so secret weapon against bingeing on things I want is tracking everything every day. I can usually manage to go light on meals and have something I want but limit the amount. For example, I just had a fun size Baby Ruth for a snack. It makes it much easier to ignore the urge to grab a full sized one at the checkout counter.
One of the benefits of losing slowly is a less restricted diet. But the only way to make it work is either eating from a pre planned menu without straying from it or tracking everything. It's too easy to go over trying to ballpark it. A food scale is a must have, IMO, if you want to track accurately. __________________ | |Up and down |And in the end it's only round and round |Pink Floyd - Us and Them | |bipolar II, substance use disorder, ADD |lamictal, straterra

If I wanna lose a healthy amount every week, how many calories should I be eating? I'm 38 years old and I weigh 145. And I'm 5'4".

My Fitness Pal app will tell you. I went to my MD to discuss a healthy goal weight.

My mood has been kind of low lately, and its made my motivation decrease even further than usual. I have just not been eating that much because either there's nothing in the house, or what is seems like too much work to make. I've lost two pounds as a result this past week. Not the way I want to lose it, but at least it's a positive thing.
I was talking to my hubby about this new shopping center they plan to build quite close to us. It's always suspenseful what stores they will include in the shopping center. So often the stores they choose are just not the ones that would really be beneficial. They wrote that they'd build a privately owned movie theater, even though we have plenty of great theaters, standard popular films and foreign/alternative films. An LL Bean, which is OK. And a gourmet grocery store. Not sure why the gourmet grocery store is so needed. We already have one within a 6 mins drive, and a mega typical grocery store only 1 minute down the road from the proposed new gourmet store. What I'd like is a Whole Foods market. The closest one is an inconvenient 25 mins away. I'd love to have access to very very healthful foods, which Whole Foods is GREAT at supplying. They have amazingly great healthful salads at their salad bars, and plenty of healthful hot food items. All the other grocery store salad bars are so ho-hum, and their hot food options are basically junk food. |

MFP is likely to tell you to lose 0.8 pounds per week eating 1200 calories a day if you are sedentary. If you are lightly active (exercise 1-3 times a week) then you would lose over a pound a week. 1200 is the recommended healthy minimum for women.

There is an online daily calorie calculator at https://www.freedieting.com/calorie-calculator that after entering your weight, age, height, and exercise amount tells you how many calories you can have for maintenance, light weight loss, and quicker healthy weight loss.

I got in under goal today - 1468 calories out of my 1500 allotment. Got enough protein. Had oatmeal a couple of times plus had an apple and whole wheat tortilla for more fiber. Sounds healthy, right? I had mostly lean protein and went a little heavy on snacks today. Frozen yogurt with pecans, a small piece of fudge, a fun size Baby Ruth and a Hershey's Nugget. It's an example of making choices to make things fit. I didn't deny myself choices, but I did limit quantity. The chicken strips for dinner were the only single item over 150 calories. Only one other item was over 120.

It looks like I weigh 182. Interesting. I need to back off on the dessert. However, I made it fit in my about 2300 or less calorie allotment. Not very healthy, but that can change. I used the excuse of having some legal charges dropped. But I am sure I always can find an excuse for dessert. I have made out my menu for tomorrow. There is no room for dessert with this menu.

168.8! A little over a pound lower in two days, so I am probably a little dehydrated, but nice to see the 160s at last.
