99fairies, plateaus happen. This is when you are dieting, or fasting in your case, and the weight loss stops. It is a hurdle for you to move past. This will last for what I think will be a period of time. Maybe only a few days, or maybe longer. One person here reported the same thing happening in their diet. In that person’s case, her waist continued to become smaller. So hang in there! This advice comes with the usual disclaimers like IMHO.

Stuck for how long? Not total, but how long did you fast with no change? The bingeing and "healthy" stretches - how long and did you carefully track all of your calories? I agree with Tucson that it is a matter of time.

I fasted for 5 days, twice. I binged for one day and ate a healthy amount of calories for about 2-3 days. On the 5th day of my last fast, I fainted. Now I'm scared to fast again.

sorry sweety, fasting is not a good thing for you. Learning to eat healthy balanced meals is the way to go.

I have lost consistently over time, but I have had weeks where my weight stayed pretty constant and weeks where I lost faster than average, which evened things out in the long run. I would have expected some loss from the 5 day fast; it's surprising but not shocking that you didn't see a change. Unless you accurately track calories on the bingeing and healthy days, it is hard to say how much effect they would have in the long run. Calculate how much you burn, eat a few hundred calories less than that (logging every single thing you eat) every day for 3 weeks and you will see the scale numbers dropping. Keep in mind you may burn less than the calculator says (adaptive thermogenesis from previous loss). If you read through the linked article or skip to the end, you will see that can be as much as 200-300 calories; not enough to explain any so called "starvation mode", but enough to cancel out what you might think is a slight deficit, or make you lose weight slower that expected from what you thought would be a big deficit.

EDIT - Note that I said it can be as much as 200-300 calories. There is no way to be sure how much it will affect you. I think I am off by less than 200. I use the figures for totally sedentary even though I have been walking about 4000 steps a day. It does not stop me from losing weight; it just makes it harder and slower. When I get to maintenance, I will have to eat less than the calculator says if I want to stay there (and I do).

4 eggs = ~280 calories.

From https://www.livestrong.com/article/3...ith-red-sauce/
Quote:
One four-ounce bowl of cooked plain spaghetti contains 392 calories. That same bowl of spaghetti with ½ cup of red sauce without meat on it contains 463 calories. Four ounces of cooked whole-wheat spaghetti contains 344 calories. With a ½ cup of meatless red sauce, it contains 415 calories.
So your binge may have been a low calorie day.

Cocosurviving, how are you walking that much? Is it a few times around the block? You are definitely consistent, and dedicated to yourself losing weight. Perhaps I need to get a step counter too? I used to enjoy walking and more than one time walked five miles. I pedaled on my bike twenty miles there to visit my grandmother when young and another twenty miles back. But those days are long gone, I am sorry to say.

Today. Did good on calories and macros, though I always seem to get more sugar and less fat than mfp suggests. I ate oatmeal 3 times; really hoping that LDL number is under 100 when I get another blood test. I had plenty of blueberries which are supposed to be good for all sorts of reasons, but I was really short on veggies.

I had about 1700 calories today. I have come a bit lower than my target calorie range. This was not intended on my part. I did substitute for breakfast and dinner a cheese blintz with a strawberry sauce topping. On MFP, I chose the blintz that has the most calories as my estimate. This blintz entry is at least 100 calories more than the other cheese blintzes. I assume this is due to a sweet sauce on the blintz that explains this.

I tracked every single calorie yesterday and ended up eating 2,100 calories. I stepped on the scale this morning and guess what? 142. Seriously?

I am so glad that you are eating!!!!!!!!!
remember that one pound equals 3,500 calories or four sticks of butter.
It takes alot to gain a pound or lose one for that matter!

I weighed myself today and came up with two weights, 178 and 179. Two scales validated the 179 with one dissenting scale at 178. The new scale that has very good reviews for it on Amazon gave the 178.

Today, I started out with french toast. I was hungry from that low calorie day yesterday. I will have a fruit smoothie. I will then have a jumbo hot dog for lunch from the next door convenience store. Then I will have a spaghetti dinner. I have purchased from TJs a hard to find grated cheese called picarino romano. It’s flavor is on the sharp side, but real good with spaghetti sauce. Makes the sauce “pop”. Then I may throw in a banana for a snack. If I follow this menu, I will have had about 2100 calories. This is an ambitious menu for me as to the quantity of food. We shall see what happens.

Keep in mind that weight can fluctuate daily, for a variety of reasons. I am always hovering between 135-140 depending, and for that reason I very rarely weigh myself. Just continue eating a healthy amount for you, be physically active regularly, and your body will respond positively. Don't give so much power to a mere number on the scale. Very glad you are eating again.

I lost the couple lbs I had gained back (wasn't eating well) and am now down to 270 lbs. That's the lowest I've been in a few years. My first goal is 250 lbs. I've been eating mostly fruits, veggies, hard boiled eggs, hummus, and either some chicken or turkey for dinner. Cutting out carbs is rough. Lately my daily food intake looks like this: Breakfast, apple. Lunch, hard boiled egg, blackberries, strawberries, and carrots with hummus. Dinner, Chicken or turkey and a veggie. I had to cut out yogurt cause dairy free yogurt is expensive and has a lot of carbs. My stomach actually feels better since doing that. Weird. I haven't been having as many stomach issues with sticking to this diet. I feel like I have more energy tbh and I've been doing more. I can eat pretty cheaply too if I shop at aldi. Their fruits and veggies are inexpensive.

Yeah they have organic stuff. It's $2-4 more though. lol. I'm not made of money. hehe. Maybe if I ever get SSDI I can do organic stuff. I spent $31 for food for a week (didn't get meat though cause I can get it at the hispanic grocery store cheaper, plus I have some in the freezer already). I even bought a huge bag of dog food for $6. The only bad thing about aldi though is that you have to pay for your cart (you get your quarter back when you take your cart back) and if you want bags (7 cents) if you don't bring your own. I just throw everything into my trunk when I'm done. I have a bag of bags at home so I just get a couple to bring stuff in.

You need to track several days in a row, at least two or three weeks, before you can start making sense of changes in diet versus changes in weight. And you have to track 100% of what you eat, preferably weighing it. People lose weight without going to all that trouble, but I don't think I can get a handle on losing slowly and maintaining once I get to a good weight without good numbers to work with.

I've manage to get in 4905 steps so far today. I have been slack this month. I averaged 4200 or so per day in January but so far for February it is 3200 and change. Every 1000 steps adds about 40 calories to your daily burn and makes the calorie deficit a little bigger. Plus it just helps keep you in better shape. I need to start doing some upper body work also. 938 calories eaten so far today, 562 to go.

I am starting to have mixed feelings about the Quaker weight control oatmeal. It has more than double the protein of regular oatmeal, but it gets it from soy; eating it multiple times a day is not so great with my gut. I need to ask my doctor for a lab order to get another LDL reading and see if this is working.

It looks like I did not get to the banana on my menu plan yesterday. I have had 2000 calories. I ran out of fruit for the smoothie, so I will have to pick uo some more. Tomorrow I will start out with oatmeal. Then I will have a spicy iItalian sausage. I will have this with refried beans, and then perhaps a soup and cheese sandwich.

167.8 this morning; another 30+ years low. Going to try to get in a 5000+ step walk today. The next several days should be really nice.

Yesterday. I got in more veggies, with the salad and sugar snap peas. Going to have another salad at lunch today.
