Hummingbird nest live webcam

Actually, the baby on the right is Bea, a girl, and the baby on the left is Jay...and yes, the baby on the right was born two days before the other one, so is a little farther ahead in development, although now that their beaks are dark, there isn't too much difference in development...Bea does flap her wings really fast like her mom though...it is fun to watch them!

Lots of wing action today.

Yes SS, it's looks like they'll be ready to fly in a week or so. They even groom themselves now.

They are actually due to fly as soon as tomorrow and as late as the 18th according to the web site.

It definitely looks they are ready!! Hope we all get to witness their "virgin flight"!!

OMG I just saw this post for the first time and went and looked at the hummingbirds. They are so cute. I told all my friends about it. LOL.

Good timing googley. They are growing soooo fast. Bea, the baby on the right is the first born and is due to fly any day. It seems sitting on the edge of the nest is the first sign that a launch is coming soon. She has been up there a couple of times today.

There are lots of pictures capturing their growth posted on phoebe's home page. phoebeallens.com is better then the ustream link. IMO. Enjoy. Let's hope we catch the launch.

Wow they're definately ready - their feathers have grown so much the last 3 days and there's no room for Phoebe anymore. Thanks SS for the additional link...I'll check it out.

Chewing fingernails.........

I think Bea has taken flight. I haven't seen her fly but when I logged on to the site the first message I saw on the chat said, 'Is Bea back?' She was standing o the edge of the nest at the moment. Maybe she had just returned.

And maybe not the first time. My internet was down yesterday so I didn't get to check in on them.

Ohhh snap....I missed it. This is the first day I waited until afternoon to check.

Now we will be glued waiting to see her go again. I bet Jay will have a bigger audience. lol

According to the chatters, BOTH have fledged!! I haven't seen it yet though
And I wish they'd knock that poop off the branches...very untidy!

How about that! I saw one almost take flight since I last posted. I think it was Bea. I was hoping but no such luck. They are awake again so maybe some action before I have to go collect my son. He is going to a job interview. Here's hoping he gets it.

One of the chatters said he thinks they will fly tomorrow! i guess they do so at a certain age so he can predict it...keep a window open, guys!

They have been flying for the last couple of days according to earlier chatters. None here have seen it yet, or at least reported seeing either of them fly. I keep hoping to catch it.

I can't believe they are still in the nest!!!!! They really do look sooooooooooo ready to leave!!!!!!

Looking at the camera set up there are several nests in the same area. I wonder if that is where they will go. Each with their own maybe.

I learned how to screen save a while ago. I thought I posted one of the pics here but I can't find it now.
