Don't laugh too loud... I have constantly cold feet and hands and of course is worse this time of year. 2 years ago suffered from moderate frost bite b/c of it and has been worse since then. The docs have not found any condition to be causing it, but of course calling it a circulatory issue but nothing specific; everything is normal. Doc doesn't know what to do with me.

Besides thermo socks and gloves (with thinsulate in them) and special boots with significant cold ratings, what does anyone else do to help with this? Treatments? Supplements? Desperate. Will of course run it by doc before taking anything but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem...it is because I have very small blood vessels in my legs and arms. I usually take care of my feet by wearing a regular pair of socks and a pair of the thick wool socks. You can find them in the sporting goods section in walmart or order them online.

I use glove liners around the house when my fingers get cold. I also wash my hands a lot in hot water and that helps as well.

Oh, I found this on a vitamin site that I order my vitamins from. I typed in circulation and the below link shows what came up:

http://www.puritan.com/cardiovascula...=1&sortOrder=2

They are a good vitamin company and have great deals. You buy 2 bottles and get 3 free. Shipping is $4.95.

You could have low circulation that is another reason for cold hands and feet. Worth looking into I guess. Hope some of this helps

What a great website. I found some other of my brands on there for other vitamins that I currently take and they were so much less. Thank you!

I will try the water definitely. Seems silly did not think of this as it seems like I'm in the bath enough as it is but not to go full out. LOL.

I just got a PM about someone who had a similar issue, no health specific things that it could be pinpointed to other than circulatory and their doctor found they were deficient in iodine, which can be replaced through kelp supplements. They started taking them and saw a big improvement. I will get checked for this deficiency in the meantime, perhaps that is it. If it were only this simple...hmmmm.

I used to have cold feet and hands. My feet and ankles would swell a lot also. All that went away
after I changed my diet and got rid of the foods I was reacting too.

I have always had cold hands & feet.....even in the HOT summer. Much of my life I was dealing with low blood pressure.

This site gives many of the reasons I have heard are the cause....definitely important to look into:
http://www.articlesbase.com/health-a...d-1165042.html

When my hands get cold, my fingers even cramp up.....drop things I am holding onto & have to run my hands under warm water to get them to uncramp. This started when I lost a lot of weight at the time my mother was dying of cancer & I was going through a trauma with her. I was trying to write a check to my horse vet & couldn't hold the pen to write it with my fingers cramping so bad.

I have been this way all my life with the cold hands & feet & actually my whole body is always cold. Living in the cold area of the country doesn't help.....when it was 4F, I just don't function at all.....sit right next to my room heater which is setting right next to my laptop computer which is right next to my bed.

I have issues with several things on that list of the most common reasons including bouts with anemia. I am curious about the candida and will ask b/c have many of the symptoms associated with it as well. Those things have only been treated symptomatically to date with little results, no cures. Curious. Thank you.

I didn't use to have an issue with this until I started to lose weight and then moving to a cold climate did not help either which makes it even worse. It has even led to frost bite on occasion despite prevention and protection. I will look further into this with the doc. I know it is an indication of other things and she is not listening to me in how painful and annoying it is.

Hmmm. Fresia, you might want to look at material about a condition called "Raynaud's Phenomenon," which can be either a disease or a syndrome. The symptoms sound something like those you've described. Check this out at Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raynaud%27s_phenomenon

One of my brothers has it which is how I know about it. He's also got something called "scleroderma" and apparently the Raynaud's is caused by this "scleroderma" thing. Here's a link for that:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scleroderma

As people used to say on the net, Hope That Helps! Take care.

I always have freezing hands and feet, and ironically they sweat a lot! I have to wear closed shoes, even in the middle of summer.
What about garlic - I believe that helps with circulation...

Have you been checked for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS)? That could be a cause of the cold hands. And then if in general you have impaired circulation the feet are often cold because they're so far away from the heart.

I have TOS and my hands get cold and blue unless I am massaging someone (I am a massage therapist). Heh.

If the doctors haven't found anything, then I would be inclined to accept that, and just do what you can to try and help keep yourself warm. Magic Gel heat packs can help, the ones where you boil them up then can take them with you and when you snap this clicker thing in them they get hot ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Magic-Gel-Re.../dp/B000MU4IJ2) . My friend has one in each pocket for her hands. Also things like getting a hot drink and holding it between your hands if you're out and desperate.

With your feet, I go for 2 pairs of socks, a thin one and some ski socks or something like that. I also have tried using those socks that are like tights material under normal socks and it was really good. I then also always wear insulated frost boots (which can come in nice styles too).

My cold feet are due to problems with my thyroid, but I guess your doctor would have checked that.

I have this problem too.

Very cold hands and feet year round, as well as low blood pressure.

I sit on my hands, to warm them. Got a warming and massaging seat cushoin for Christmas, that has come in very handy! My bf also bought some good snow boots for me to wear: by Keen. They insulate my feet and ankles to temperatures to -30 degrees F, which comes in darn handy in Mn!! Different gloves for different temperatures and activities: thin flannel don't help much at all, but I do wear them while driving ~ better able to move my fingers. Thick, insulated gloves when outside for longer periods of time. I also had a pair of suede w/ sheep skin inside ~ those were kind of middle of the road. Easier to move than those thick ones, and much warmer than the flannel, but not warm enough for longer times outside.

Those are my tips. I did review the links above. Interesting ~ particularly the autoimmune dieases, to me anyway. I've had trouble with chronic urticaria (hives) and angioedema a couple times. All of my tests have been "normal" so far, but doctors still can't figure out what's causing my digestive trouble either. If you have that trouble, definitely worth looking into autoimmune tests too!

Best wishes Fresia
