I am having the most horrible period cramps. Ibuprofen and prescription pain killers didn't help. Lying still and straight didn't help. Lying in a tight ball didn't help. Going for walk - doubled over 3 times. Didn't help.
No hot water bottles or similar as it is 35 deg C in the shade. Cool shower - nope - didn't help.
Now I am having a glass of wine and burning some candles.

Feeling sorry for myself.

Sabrina Looking for sympathy I can't relate. I've been blessed with not getting cramps. But I can definitely give you some sympathy.

Hot or not, Sabrina, I strongly recommend a heating pad. I've been having bad cramps lately -- thank you fertility drugs and testing -- and it's amazing how quickly and thoroughly the heat helps. I know it's sucky when it's hot out, but if you're suffering, it's still worth a try.

Sorry you're feeling so bad.

I get really bad cramps too...

When the above things you mentionned didn't work for me,

1) Chocolate. Dark chocolate mostly. Don't ask why, but it made the cramps go away temporarily

2) Bath. You said you tried a cold shower, how about a warm bath? Aromatherapy and darkness/candles also seem to make it easier.

None of these actually get rid of the cramps, but they can make them easier to deal with.

Hope you get over the evil cramps soon!!

My doctor told me to eat 2-3 pieces of DARK CHOCOLATE each day of my period.... it really does make a difference in my mood and cramps.

Hi Sabrina,

Chomomille tea helps. Also, lie on your back and put your feet up on the wall or headboard so that you at almost at a 90 degree angle. I agree with the heating pad. Turn the ac on and turn on the heating pad. You'll be surprised how it all helps.

Hugs,

Jan

I can relate. I'm 46 and still getting my period. I find sitting in a hard chair helps me, and walking sometimes helps me too.
