on my hand and arm skin has gone really dark in area affected, almost black, blistered and red around that. hurts like hell to say the least. eye too but it's my bad eye.

won't stop twitching, keeps twitching. hurts a ton. been feeling really dizzy, head hurts, feeling sick.

don't know how long it's been, no concept of time this week at all and been really outta it. not self-inflicted, don't know the chemical. wasn't fire though, not a flame burn.

i tried ice but it was killing me. it hurts so damn bad right now and i'm gonna run out of painkillers really soon at this rate.

what can i do at home?

There is really nothing you can do "at home" for a chemical burn.
As much as you hate the hospital, it is really the only place you can go to to have this fixed (or at least stop the damage from spreading to different parts of your body)

For the time being, you could try flushing the chemical off of you, put your hand and arm under ALOT of water (make sure it has pressure too) for at least 20 minutes and make sure that the water does not touch any other parts of your body that hav't been burned yet for any of the stuff that is remaining on your skin, by the sounds (twitching, dizzy, head hurts, etc.) of things it might have gotten into your body and is affecting your nervous system and that's a serious problem.
Thanks for this!

Nothing else to say.
Kaika has said it all.
This is a VERY serious problem.
Please have it checked.

hospitals ask questions. if i lie and say self-inflected then they'll find it werid i don't know what chemical. if it's not something that i can help at home then i can maybe try an anonymous clinic but i hate those, it gets complicated and it depends on other things.

i did eyewash on my eye but that was killing me so i stopped. wearing a gauze over it right now because it's messy and looks disgusting and hurts (not that a gauze eases the pain).

tried doing the flushing on the arm and hand (ty) but it was too painful so i stopped. i keep ice for my forehead for when i feel really dizzy but i'm not really sure if it helps or just makes my headache worse. i did twist my arm though which i guess adds to the pain.

i covered my hand (i always normally wear gloves anyways) but the material kinda got stuck to my skin (idk how, it caught on the ksin or something) so i'm trying to avoid covering the arm (keeping eye covered with gauze though).

What if you told them the truth and that you didn't know because of dissasociation?
(Or would that just make them ask more questions?)

Regardless of what type of clinic, you need to go there as soon as you can (most preferably imeadiately, or tomarrow) before more damage is done. Who knows what effect it could be doing inside your body, considering how it seriously warped your skin on the outside.

I could ask my old chemisty teacher what kind of chemical would cause symptoms like that, she used to work with all kinds of nasty chemicals before she became a teacher so maybe she would know. BUT you can't wait that long until Monday!

I'm not trying to freak you out by saying all of these things but I know this situation is very serious!

Griffe, everyone is right and you must go immediately to the hospital to have this checked.

Be honest, if you disassociated, tell them that.

Get going Friend, nobody wants to see you damaged more by neglecting to have yourself treated.

Peace and comfort,
night

hospital runs a risk of drawing too much attention to something i can't draw too much attention to and i've drawn enough attention, and docotrs ask too many questions. if i lie and say self-inflicted, then i'm scared they'd force me to stay in hospital or something.

arranged a lift to the clinic tomorrow, hate clinics because of the waits and they never help very much but better then nothing and they're anonymous and can't ask too many questions.

got enough painkillers to last the night. tried to eyewash again and it just made it messier so not even going to reattepmt on the arm, it's still twitchy and disgustingly painful, still feeling faint etc. it just looks black and bloody and red and blistered, i didn't think skin could char black and get gauz stuck to it.

sorry to update this and whine, just kills me irl and can't talk about it, kateis worried enough about me and trying to drag me to see a doctor as is.

Griffe, for your skin burns, you can try two things to help ease them and heal them a bit: aloe, and oatmeal soaks. Aloe is a plant that is wonderful for any type of burn. If you or a neighbor has a plant, cut a stalk and then cut it open to the gooey stuff, and smear it on your burns.
Using oatmeal will also ease a burn. Put any type of oatmeal, uncooked, into an old sock, or rubber band it into a cloth, any way it won't actually get into the water directly (or it makes a clean up mess.) Then put it into the water you have to soak your arm etc... water should become milky looking. That means the oatmeal is breaking down and working. It works great for any type of itching also.
Usually if a burn is open and oozing though, you shouldn't put anything on it and seek help immediately. (They just have to clean off what you put on, such an bandages etc and that might open it up further.)
Go and tell them you must have blacked out and can't remember how it happened. If you don't know, you don't know. But do go get help, you don't want to lose your arm to gangrene infection!

ended up having kate drive me to the clinic. talked to her about it and she is still really worried, at least having her drive me to the clinic gave her some consolation.

i didn't have to wait long because the people there saw the burns and let me cut ahead of everyone else. kate waited outside and the doctor there just told me i had to go to hospital, they couldn't really do anything there. he asked questions and i think he started talking some more but i don't really remember what he was saying, i think they washed it or something... i kind of left the clinic really confused and i dont exactly remember what the doctor was telling me

kate keeps trying to drag me to hospital but i'm just going to try a bit more at home first, still feeling dizzy but i get used to that. the pain is always awful but i can always use painkillers.

ty sky for the tips, i'll try those today. don't think i have any of the plant but i'm sure i've got some oatmeal.

you need a prescription for silverdine (sp?) or something that sounds like that.
it is an rx with a burn antibiotic/antiseptic in it.

are you in position to ask the pharmacy to call your physician and have them make up the cream for you?

if not, call the clinic and see if the Dr. you saw there will.

It will keep infection at bay and help you till you can use vitamin E and aloe on the burn.

that's all I know re:burns from a personal experience with a 3rd degree accidental burn once.

hope it helps.

peace and comfort,
night

p.s. sorry for the spelling earlier... sometimes I type too fast and don't wait to see how it comes across. xo

The real problem you are having isn't the pain, imo, it's the possible infection and continuing breakdown of the tissue. Please go to the hospital and been seen (or sneak to your local fire dept. station and ask them to look at you, ok?

I'm sorry that they were that bad.

Remember that if you had not sought treatment it is highly likely the affected areas would have gotten infected and make you very very ill.

How are you doing on pain control? Did you already have your grafts placed?

blue - i think skin grafts are "substitute skin". like a kidney transplant, but in griffe's case he gets a "skin transplant". correct me if i'm wrong though

ty psychris. the pain is manageable. the grafts were placed and i have to wear dressings on them, but the grafting itself went smoothly. it's been over 72 hours which i think was the period of time where they'd find out if my body accepted or rejected them. doctors don't seem too worried.

blue, definition of skin grafting: a skin graft is a patch of skin that is surgically removed from one area of the body and transplanted to another area.
