I'm up late (or early as the case may be since it's 5am) and just need somebody to cry to and it's not a decent hour, so I can't call anyone.

I'm really frustrated right now. I just moved into a new place and spent 5 days with no hot water because the manager of the place neglected to tell me on Friday when the gas company was still open that our gas had been turned off and we'd need to start new service that day. So I couldn't even call the gas company until they opened on Monday, and then they couldn't come until yesterday morning- and HE (apartment manager) couldn't come light the pilot until this afternoon, after I had gone to work with no shower.

I had a hard time falling asleep tonight because of the noise made by the dripping water and occasional little pieces of my ceiling fall down into the garbage cans I've put there to catch the rain! (I'm on the first floor of a two story house, btw) Shortly after I did finally fall asleep, I was awakened because a whole new leak began- right over my bed! And my feet, blankets, and sheets at the foot of the bed are soaked. Now I can't get back to sleep because I'm upset, part of my bed is wet, and the constant dripping sound is driving me stark raving mad! grrrr! I wish I would have looked at the condition of this ceiling before I moved into this room. I can't believe this! If I hadn't signed a contract and forked over $525, I would SOOO move out. This is just ridiculous.

And the stupid wireless network here is complete CRAP and boots me every five freaking minutes. I can’t get through one email or MSN conversation. I miss my old apartment!!!!!!!

Also, at work tonight I found out they denied my request for the 21st off for my brother's wedding because I submitted my request 2.5 weeks early instead of 3. So now I've got to find someone to cover for me on a Saturday night. Good freaking luck!!!!

Please re-read your lease. If these problems were not disclosed to you, you may be able to get out of the lease and get your deposit back.
I'm sorry you wernt able to get that day off you needed too. I'm sending warm thoughts and prayers your way.

Oh Angela, that sounds absolutely horrible. You didn't see the place before you moved in? I can't believe all the problems and no hot water for 5 days? YIKES!!! And then you can't get that day off that you need for the wedding? Can't the bend the freakin' rules in this case? Sheesh!!! You've got it coming from all sides all at once. I'm so sorry you have to go through all this. Will they be fixing the problems in your new place or will you be able to get out of the lease and move?

Hope you find someone to take that shift for you soon and that your house problems are resolved soon.

Things are pretty hectic here too , but with the wonderful friends on this site you can't get better support
When did you move, document and photograph everything that's wrong with apt. then give copy to manager tell him these must be repaired by a certin date or your going to report him, then get the owners name and let him know whats going on

That sounds a horrible place to be living in. I hope you'll be able to sort out some kind of agreement with the landlord to get the roof mended. All the other things make for life being unpleasant too . I'm sorry.

Oh gosh. So much at once. I'd be crying like crazy, too. Are you at least done with school for the semester?

I'm so sorry about all that mess. No one deserves all that at once. And I hope you find someone to trade with you for the wedding. Beg, plead, cry, offer the moon...you can do it! And there are kind folks out there.

So, did you always want to have an indoor waterfall? Sounds romantic.
Could start a new trend.

Sounds like a very unsafe place to be living in. When ceilings get that wet, they can fall in on you, an over the bed.....no way is that safe. I would think that there are some building codes that are required & could be reported if nothing is done.

Many yrs ago when I was renting an apt, the stove/oven wouldn't shut off. We talked to the manager about it & he told us there was nothing that could be done with it for days. I simply told him that I would talk to the fire dept about the danger it presented if something wasn't done about it immediately. That afternoon, he contacted the owner, & had it replaced.

It is amazing how a well placed complaing can get you the solution you need. I also think that Jenifer is correct when she suggested re-reading your lease. If these things werenot disclosed to you before you signed the contract, then you have the way out with your deposit. It is more hassle but if all fails.
