As some of you know I take care of my dads rental homes.A renter sent me his check yesterday and I put it in my dads checkbook as to not lose it. Somehow its come up missing. And I have no idea how ! I have never had this happen before. I have been up all night here thus far looking for it. Turned my purse, desk and even the van upside down looking for it. Even my coupons , and my checkbooks to see if I accidentally put it in there. Its nowhere to be found! I am accountable for this money! What am I gonna do? I have to get to bed too cause i have to be up by 9am to get ready to go to my T appt. Ive tried just sitting here calmly to think of where else I might have put it or where it could have fallen out. I am sure I put it in his checkbook. I just feel sick here. HELP!!!!! Any suggestions?

Beth I am panicking big time! I am panicking big time! I am panicking big time! I am panicking big time! I am panicking big time! I am panicking big time! I am panicking big time! I am panicking big time!

hey hun

if you don't find it it is not the end of the world ... as long as you contact the renter and explain what has happened so they can cancel the check and write you a new one. I am sure they won't mind!!

the only thing i would be worried about would be if it was for cash/able to be cashed easily (i am not sure what your system is in the US) and someone found it.

just take it easy and if you can't find it decide what to do from there. things happen!

OMgosh! In situations like that it seems the harder you look, the more frustrating and scary it all gets. I'm so glad you found the check. Take a nap this evening if you can.

Hugs,

Jan

Beth,

I'm glad that you found the check....nothing more frustrating that knowing where something is & it not being there. I always had that frustration all my life with loosing something.

Only after what happened at my Mothers at the end of the year, is has become a huge trigger for me......nothing like making something that was bad already ........worse. When the RN was in the house, my Mothers wedding ring disappeared......looked frantically for it........plop....there it was fell to the floor when the RN started looking for it.......I had the check book of the den floor when I was going over the checks.....left it for a few minutes.....when I got back.....it was missing......went searching all over the house....& when my husband came...he started the search too......when the RN started looking for it......plop.....down it fell where she was looking behind the bed I had slept in the night before.......

Now I really can't handle anything missing.....It drives me beyond panic even though there is no outside person even near my things

I do find it true....the harder I look for something the more it stays hid.

I did have a very funny incident actually. I had bought a new pair of perscription sunglasses.....only wore them a couple of weeks. I went into a pet store & remember putting them on my head because I didn't like talking to the person in the store without them seeing my eyes.(just my querky self). My dog got his head caught in the car window & was screaming....I ran out to take care of him....then back into the store. We finally left the store & my husband was driving that time. We stopped at the grocery store to get some Chinese food for dinner. I remember having my normal glasses on then, & went home. I took my food up to my room & didn't think any more about my sunglasses. A few days later, I wanted them & couldn't find them.....I looked all over where I had been which was the car, the garage, & a pathway up to my room. I even went back to the stores to see if anyone had turned in a pair of sunglasses. No luck.....for almost 2 months. One day, I went into the refrigerator to get out a vacinnation shot I give my dogs. I opened up the box & in the back corner of the box were my sunglasses. I never would have thought to look there....didn't even remember that the box of shots had been on the car seat next to me to lay them on......but oh what a relief feeling it was to finally find them after 2 months. It made me feel so dumb after finding them

but as they always say......things are always in the last place we look for them.......lol lol

Glad you were successful sooner than I was
Debbie

Thanks everyone. I just got home from Indiana . Took my godson birthday shopping when he got off school. I had a T appt this morning and was half way to Ft Wayne by then so we made it a date for tonight. I got about 3 hrs sleep this morning after this whole ordeal. I am ready to crash now!lol. I did have a couple hrs in there where I had to keep myself entertained . So I went to the new Joanns store there ... OHH dear I found too much stuff! Lots of scrapbooking stuff and I got a pumpkin basket for my candle parties I will have a drawing from. And I got some strands of leaves to decorate tables with . A couple of yard ornaments. Then I went to Waldenbooks and got a couple books and sat down at the food court and had lunch and started reading the one on Bipolar Disorder by Lori Oliwentstien from Psychology Today. I am hoping to learn more about what is going on with me. Therapy today was hard. Touched some issues I just wasnt sure about talking about. The other week I cut again. That was after the episode with my husband throwing things around the house. And some other issues that have been going on with members here. See I am trying to deal with them , not pushing them awasy . OK I am tired here so I am going to bed before I start something I cant finish. I just want those of you who are concerned that I am holding myself accountable for some things. Goodnight.

Beth
