Hi,

What brought on the numbness? Are you in the middle of panic attack right now? First, let's calm down. OK. Breathe, like you're taking in good, pure air in through your nose and releaing the stale air out of your mouth.

did start when your panic attack started?

Apis has good advice with breathing....

if you can shut off any nosies that you are finding negative around you..... if music is soothing for you, put some of that on....

keep breathing like Apis said... I know it helps me...

sorry i'm back on i don't know i 've had a cold and i've been taking cepacol it's an anesthetic i think it may be making my tongue numb last time i took it was around 11 in the morning because my thraot hurt i've pretty sick lately right now i'm panicking because i thought it went away for a bit then i sat down to the comp and it came back so i'm highly nervous i've been in agonizing anxiety all week i want to calm myself down so that i won't need to go to the hospital but sometimes it helps and then the panic returns

Cepacol will numb your tongue, hon, and although it's scary, it is only temporary.

one thing I've found really effective with colds is to use that zinc spray --- you have to eat something just before or the zinc might make you nauseous but for me it really shortens the cold cycle.

the benzocaine site said it causes the tongue and throat to become numb.

i think i'd try to calm down and get some sleep. the doctor told you conflicting things. 1. it's from the infection. 2. the only thing that causes a numb tongue is a stroke. yet he didn't run any tests to see if you are having a stroke. sounds fishy to me.....love, pat

Hi Lavendersteph

i suffer with major anxiety and have often had my tongue go numb for no apparent reason... back when this all first started i went to the ER several times because i was terrified it was something bad like a stroke or whatever... but they did tests and all was fine... it was purely down to anxiety...

i dont understand it at all... but wanted to reassure you that i have had this too... and it is very frightening, but it does go away... i still get it now occasionally...

hope you are feeling abit calmer...

take care... Nikki x
