Umm, is your issue with people on this site or another site?
I am confused as to what the issue is.

OK folks... the idea is this:

IF you think you are having problems HERE you aren't having near the problems as you will find on other sites! THIS is the best site. If you think you're having "problems" with this "site"...

SHEEEESH!!!!! Easy there, old girl! Just explaining something someone didn't understand! Sorry I was trying to be helpful! If you think you're having "problems" with this "site"... (Checking out my fingers for a nub!)

Maybe you need to step back for a few and relax, eh?

How about we give Doc John, Just Ben, KimmyDawn, past Admins and all the MODERATORS, past and present, credit for keeping this site safe and making it what it is, BTW!? I find your statement that "you" make this site safe just a mite grandiose, IMPHO.

**Now, I realize that there are a few of you reading this that are L Y "-" O over this(which I find offensive yet you still use it), as you are generally NOT supportive, but skim by with the skin on your teeth. That's ok. You would be eaten alive by the general populus out there, which is why you are still here: you have no other place to go either. My post is not for you... as you are the minority here.**

Sky, i don't know what caused you to say what you said in the above paragraph, but i found it very troublesome. i didn't comment when it was posted but i see it as being pretty critical of posters that you might not even know here. i just don't understand telling people that they are skimming by and would be eaten alive out there...and then this, "you have no other place to go"....i felt then that this was hurtful and i still feel that way.

we ALL come here from different places and i feel that we need to continue to work on understanding that. at times i have to step back, as i did from your post, and think about it awhile before i answer.

Ya know, Pat? I had the same thoughts, basically, but held back from posting about it because the website that came to mind is no longer, but while I was a member of it, it was just as safe as this one is. Bashing, flaming, angry arguments weren't allowed and I might say, people who insisted on doing this were banned a lot more quickly!

On the flip-side, I have also frequented a "grandparent's rights" message board. Talk about pulling back a nub!!! YIKES! NO ONE had nothing nice or positive to say to anyone else. In fact, it went so far as to some of the members looking up personal information about others and USING it in public! Nothing was ever done about it.

I'm thinking that these are examples of both extremes. There HAS to be a middle ground somewhere as I have no doubt there is. It also seems to me that the above comments are based on ONE site. Sky "pulled back a nub" at ONE site, not many. "IMO," it's not a fair judgement.

There are also a lot of other considerations to be made regarding the way one is received on any given site. In Sky's words "as you are generally NOT supportive, but skim by with the skin on your teeth" ... well, then... you're going to get back what you give. Some are perfectly content that way and can only digest so much. Again, the old issue of being in a different stage of one's journey... which gives me the impression of "skiming by on the skin of your teeth" as also being a very unfair statement.

Personally, I haven't EVEN thought of looking elsewhere. I have no reason to. I feel comfortable here for many reasons; I feel basically "safe" because of the Admin and moderators but mostly because I take responsibility for my own actions. I feel well accepted and even loved here. There are a whole lot of people you can have an intelligent interaction with and most members respect each other most of the time. Why should I "fix what ain't broke"??

I can go on and on in a long rant about the subject but I won't as the thread has a great potential to become inflamatory... if it hasn't already.

I'm sure Sky's intent was to totally defend and laud this site. For those of us that know Sky, we know that sometimes her wording can be a bit harsh. Maybe that's what you and I picked up on, Pat. If you think you're having "problems" with this "site"...

So there you have my $1's worth... not $.02!

I don't see how this comment is Off topic. I agree with Pat. I found that paragraph to be somewhat hurtful. I understand the point you were trying to make, but this seemed a little harsh.

Comments that don't refer to the original subject are considered "off topic." They take the thread in a different directionother than it's original intent. Thus, even my saying this detracts from my purpose of touting the greatness of this site. .. . that one comment was meant for those members ... and is obvious as to who "they" are... to say that I still feel this way, even though they invalidate my feelings.

As I said, IN SPITE of a few members, THIS IS THE BEST SITE AROUND FOR SUPPORT!!!!! Psych Central If you think you're having "problems" with this "site"...

I think anywhere we go at any time, certain members will have a postive or negative reaction to any one post. People have feelings and beliefs, and it's only natural for those to clash when a group of this many people come together on ANY kind of site. To wish for a positive reaction to all your posts, all the time, is wishful thinking even in a site where those are the only posts allowed. People will say what they feel they need to say, and I'm certainly not condoning bashing, negative comments, or judgement... but I am saying that this is the rub.

Hoping you won't take this offensively,
-HiA

the only thing that i took offense at is what i posted about.

i wasn't off topic. how can it be off topic, if it's included in the original thread the the poster started. i simply drew out a paragraph that really bothers me.

i stand by what i said.

I have noticed Sky that when you have very strong feelings about something it is difficult for you to communicate well. It is as though you put up a shield of:"I'll stab them before they can stab me" I am really sorry if I am right about that because it must be painful. I am also sorry if I am wrong because I know you feel misunderstood a lot and I do have trouble understanding what you are getting at at times. I do though trust that you have a good heart and are trying your best. I wish for you to have peace.

Ok, Sky, so that your thread doesn't end with the two instigators cracking jokes, how's this for a summary:
-----------------------------
"This is an excellent, very supportive site... the most supportive site out of all I've visited on the entire internet. Welcome to the newbies, and I hope you find the support you need here."
