Sounds good in theory, but.... I don't know. What about people who really need to be here for support and aren't just gawking?

You know I understand all too well how you feel about what happened this weekend (even though I didn't see what was written that set off your alarm). I did have a funny feeling about ________ though. Some of what I did read was just......off. Features you'd like to see in an ideal mental health site

Create a temporary forum . . . threads only last a short time (a month or few months) before they disappear from the archives.

This is good for members to post discussions that later may be embarrassing.

I was just thinking - if we can have a favorites thread option, could we also have an ignore threads option? That way some of the threads that are triggering to people wouldn't even show up on their screens? Like, when someone says "can we stop replying to this thread...?" Of course that's not going to happen. Every time someone asks that it be stopped, it just gets pushed to the top of the list and gets more action.

If someone is on our ignore list, could we also not see any threads that they start?

Just thought I would mention that members can notify a moderator or administrator and ask that any of their posts that they are embarrassed about and so on be removed. I have on occasion read the ealier posts and threads and have noticed a deleted thread or two that said on it "Deleted by (name of administrator or moderator) at the request of (members name).

As to the hidden boards post - I have said it before I am in favor of some or all the message boards being hidden until certain standards were fulfilled such as registration and log in. There are a few threads that discussed this.

the most recent discussion on this issue If I remember right Got quite heated and was in reaction to such a hidden board that was being added here and is open to members only after certain criteria is fulfilled by members.

<font color="purple"> This site already has everything i would want in a mental health site as far as information, resources, forums etc.... Which is why I have stayed and forgot the other places I checked out....

with that said, there are a couple features I would like to see developed that pertain to the forums:

1. An option to mark each thread read individually as well as the entire forum as it is currently....

2. A filtering system to filter out threads that may contain a certain topic or word that oneself may find triggering..

Hmm... What I'd like might be a bit different... I was reading something online. Was it Suler? It was someone... And they were talking about this online process group that was started up just to be... A process group. Kind of odd... But sounds like people just did start posting to it... And over time there was conflict and stuff and then they would process the conflict and stuff like that.

I've seen that a couple of graduate level psychology courses have temporary online forums that are supposed to function as online process groups. Participation is a requirement of the course and / or is graded. My understanding is that it is temporary for people enrolled in the course, and they leave once they complete the course...

What I'd really like... Would be an online process group. To process some of the interpersonal dynamics and conflicts and stuff. Where people are trying to work through things... Maybe mental health issues... Maybe just personal insecurities and the like...

I don't know if this is making much sense. Maybe the idea is kind of unclear... I have heard that there used to be groups like this, though.

I'd like one of those :-)

If anybody knows of one... Please could you PM me about it??? Be grateful, thanks.

I would like to see a forum for one on one conflict resolution...... some online groups have them and they generally work pretty well. The idea is that conflicts are worked on, out in the open, and so "safer" that way, and are processed and maybe worked through before they become more serious and possibly permanent feuds. That way none of the sniping that has been known to happen in PM and email occurs..... not to the same extent anyway Features you'd like to see in an ideal mental health site (at least that is the idea Features you'd like to see in an ideal mental health site)

And of course, the forum is easily avoided by those who find all conflicts triggering......although many people do find that they learn a lot from watching others resolve conflicts in an adult and mature manner Features you'd like to see in an ideal mental health site..... or their process of working towards that goal Features you'd like to see in an ideal mental health site

I have to agree with the above. Sometimes it seems that PMs are more trouble than they are worth.

Just my humble observation.....

<ul type="square">[*]back to the "looks and functioning" of a site... when selecting a change, such as view or skins... it would be easier if there was an immediate change to view, with a countdown timer to help decide if you want to keep the change or not.
more conflict resolution..out in the open.....with honesty and no deceit.

and more interaction from administration daily.......so they can really feel and understand the pulse of the forums.

more support for forum members, from adm, when a "conflict" is or isn't going on.

less needless pain.

I wouldn't mind an "ignore thread" button that when clicked the thread is 'gone'.

New to this...don't know too much...and I do understand there is probably a need for an ignor button...however, I believe there should be more control over using it by monitors...if there is a complaint about someone...the monitors and/or the doc in charge should watch this person and make the determination to push the ignor button or not...could be it is being used too much to encourage clicks and separation of the forum...Like I said I am new to this so I probably don't know what I am talking about...it is only an observance I have noticed already...

An ideal mental health site would have library of movies illustrating various mental health issues. See this example, which is a good start but needs more work.

videos, more personal experiences, self diagnosis without a pass needed. Self support, just a lot of info in a organized manner.

When I'm on my notebook PC has my full attention Usually. When I am on my desktop, I have it running (PC) in the background while I work on other things.

<ul type="square">[*]Is there some way to make a site that notifies you (alert) other than an email, tone (or popup, which also has tones) when a new post is made?
[*]Cability to select more than one thread for alert would be good.

I know I suggested things about the PM area...trying to categorize or whatever..

[*]Could there be a way to put an invisible tag on a PM that would show on the Sent listing (invisible to the recipent) to better pick like PMs out of the listing?
I think something along the lines of an area ..maybe on a who's online listing or such... where it shows if a member has their PMs "off" or "on" (accepting or not.) Or maybe have it on the member profile, as an option to show or not?

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
