i'd like to see a community where people weren't allowed, ever, to allude to something that someone else might, or might not, have done to them (either in a PM or e.mail) in a thread. a community where other posters didn't fan the flames by chiming in with subtle "asides" in the aggrieved member's threads.
conflict resolution would be great, if it stayed between the people who actually were having the conflict. a community that fostered that would be ideal. having that work in the community would keep some members from going and coming to avoid game playing. |

A conflict resolution forum is and always has been a good idea. We haven't implemented it because it requires one or two folks who act as pseudo-professional mediators. They need to have a background/training in conflict resolution, and they have to be committed to visiting the forums and working on these issues regularly. That's a big committment, and one I haven't found any willing volunteers for.
PM status is an easy one, and it now shows in a member's profile if they are accepting PMs or not.

But then of course it would have to be Properly Run.... Not an easy task... or else it could do more harm than good.

I'm not sure I agree with the new PM status feature.... but you are boss of course. I purposely usually do NOT tell specific people if I am putting them on ignore, for my own reasons. (I think I read here it isn't allowed or encouraged anyway) I do NOT want to cause ANYONE any hurt. This has been my feeling, ever since the ignore feature was first initiated. It is MY feeling.
But the only way NO hurt is ensured by any specific individual in ANY community is by NEVER even going there. Again that is MY opinion. Thanks for listening (sigh) Fuzzy

This is a great idea. I think it would also benefit us insofar as anonymous visitors who may track a particular member's posts, such as a partner who may have found that their significant other is posting here.
If it is required of PC to keep a record of all posts, then maybe they can be archived separately - off the main site.

Another idea I have is that the moderators be nominated by the membership rather than having moderators nominate moderators. The "team" continues to be filled with the moderators friends, many having like ideas. Being more democratic about the nominations might result in a better atmosphere in the forums. </div></font></blockquote><font class="post"> ![]()

In theory, I agree..... I happen to think that the mod team is a good and fair one though.....
![]() ![]() Some members might be "popular" for the "wrong" reasons and so may be nominated if the other idea is implemented..... just thinking aloud ![]()

It would be nice to receive PM's from whom one can choose, rather than it having to be open to everyone. This way, "ignore" would not have to be used, as it seems to totally cut off any and every reponse of one particular individual. The member would still be able to see all postings, if they so chose, without having to accept and/or respond to PM's sent by certain individuals they may otherwise not wish to discuss issues privately with. (Some seem to get upset if a PM is not answered and will continue to send more until one is simply forced to respond.
What I am trying to say is: I would like to have control over who can send me PM's and who cannot. Right now it is all or nothing.

Moderator selection has NOTHING to do with who is friends or not, but friendships can evolve in time.
If you or anyone has questions about moderator selection procedure(s) I suggest you contact admin. and one of them can explain to you how the process goes.

Ummm, if you build the "ideal" psych site, designed by using our suggestions, then why would we want to stay here when the "ideal" is there ?
Just asking...just curious...

I just thought of two more things and decided to dig up this thread again.
At the bottom we have the "jump to" option, which I never use because it's way at the bottom. But I don't always want to go back to community before I open another forum. Can't we have a menu of the forums at the top??? And the other thing... I can't remember now, mmmhhhh... let's think, oh yes, how about a link or some information on how to get immediate help??? If you are in a crisis or it just happened and you don't know what to do it would be nice to have an option that gives you advice and contact numbers. Even if it is only relaxing methods for when you have a flashback or something...

Hello. What I would really like to see, is a site that has a lot of the support group numbers, and locations for DBSA(depression Bipolar support alliance) NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) AA (Alcoholics Anonymous)
NA (Narcotics anonymous) Al anon, and DDA Dual Diagnosis Anonymous, and Abuse Support Groups for sexual abuse, and domestic Violence, and any other group in the united States, that is available in the United States, that may be helpful to someone, in need of support. Also a list of shelters, in the United States, and Crisis Hotline Numbers for the United States, may be helpful. I know this is a lot of work ,but some of the sites can be cut and pasted, and the job would not be that hard to do with an experienced web person in charge. Another thing that may be helpful, is that someone be available on the site more often to schedule chat times, so if someone needs to chat there is a schedule arranged for a chat daily. Thank you for your time. Take care and good day Soidhonia

DocJohn has granted my wish for the year. A feature I wanted to see in an ideal mental health site included seeing an updated holiday "Psych Central" logo and other holiday graphics. I love it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I'd like an option to remove ads. I'd be willing to pay a subscription to be free from seeing ads. Another option would be is to select the type of ads I prefer not seeing . . . because I would select not to see any pharmaceutical ads, which irritate me.
I want complete control of accessiblity of my private info! I could chose to delete my info off my profile, etc., or choose not to share info, but I want a community. I struggle with privacy (paranoia) and sharing online every time I log online to a community. I like the "add" friend function Facebook uses. Only certain friends I specify can view my photos, blog, homepage, etc. I like to control my default settings, tailor my user experience. I like to change skins (font/colors). I'd love for my public posts to expire after a certain time frame (I'd want it a year) or become private posts for only friends and admin to view. I don't feel safe knowing some online stranger can search all my posts. I wish a message would appear, something like this: "Only friends of _________ (insert username) can do that function." Only friends of jennie can view her posts written over a year. Only friends of jennie can view her links. Only friends of jennie can view this photo album. Only friends of jennie can read her profile. I'm rambling. Sorry. It's past my bedtime. Thanks for reading ![]() |

This pertains to this site…
The link to the member blogs says “get your own.” For the longest time I thought that meant I had to get a blog if I clicked on it…I did not know I could read others’ blogs by clicking on it (without creating an account). Maybe an additional link that says something like “read member blogs.” I did just discover the index link that is available once I have signed into the community. But, I referred a few people to the site and told them about the blog section—they were confused about how to get to it because they were not PC members. I don’t know, maybe I am just confused because I am not good at navigating the web… I LOVE the blog…Overall, I find it easy to navigate, easy to post and I think its just plain cool that I have my own space where I can say whatever I want…well, within reasonable limits. I have found it to be a great outlet for somebody like me who likes to write, write, write…
