How about an area for POLLS only without an option to add comments... just cut and dry option sometimes?

The ideal mental health site for me would be a place where i would not be hurt by others. i find that it's impossible to post about problems in my life andd not be hurt by the response of others.

i think i'm part of a minority that is too fragile to come here or anywhere else. It would be so good to find a site that i could come to and find people who could accept my multiplicity and not try to make me better then stop writing to me because their advice is impossible to do. We've been so injured.

When there are mental disorders there's a lot of pain that's there too. We usually don't need anymore than we already struggle with.

It shouldn't be ok to hurt others. Too many times people say what they think and that was ok- everyone is responsible for their own triggers but sometimes we're too fragile to stand one more negative thing and that's where we live.

Mostly everyone already knows what's wrong with them and the things they do that are wrong or weak, no one needs to tell them. Those kind of things would be against the rules in a perfect site.

Thanks for listening,
kerria

I would like to see more in-depth information in the "resource directory" and "meds". I think that the information provided is far too general.

If the sky is the limit, it would be cool to have an area where you could play games (dominoes, hearts, etc) like at yahoo games, with a chat feature in the game rooms. I never venture there unless it is with a friend to just play a game with them because I do not feel safe enough to go by self to play a game there. It would be cool to have that ability in a mental health place where it may have a safer feeling.
Thanks,

IMO on an ideal site... the mods would not have an active dx ideally... They would be para professionals perhaps... but not such newbies that they don't have empathy.

Doc John, you said these suggestions are for an "ideal" site, not this one. Would it be possible to incorporate the SMILIE issue to this one?

Just asking... to bump this back up to the top. LOL

Did I mention that maybe the selection of a Forum icon would automatically place it in that forum??? sigh. In the last 2 weeks, there has only been 1 thread moved from General... anyone else going bonkers from all the clutter or is it just me? (I know, admin issue.)

how about a membership anniversary "cookie"?? (birthdays get cakes... I want an oatmeal cookie!)

and

having inactive members listed as that (if not deleted Features you'd like to see in an ideal mental health site ) after say 6 months to 2 years of not being here?

Just a thought...perhaps some sort of search agent that could bring together info on a particular topic for a poster....say someone has a question about a medication for use in bipolar...the agent would find relevant posts from the past and the weband present them in a way that would aid the discussion.

Also, some way to present info in a better way than a static list on a page. I'm not sure what I'm thinking here, but that's pretty normal! Features you'd like to see in an ideal mental health site

So there's my two cents....

More people awake, when I am.

A "Who can't sleep because they had a lot of input" column.

Although reading the general discussions helped tonight.

Thanks.

More? I've reread the thread and don't know if this was specifically mentioned but <ul type="square"> ability to search your PMs
and in rephrasing the one for kicking us out when we've spent too much time? How about [b]<ul type="square">a self set timer for being onsite, or in chat?

Features you'd like to see in an ideal mental health site a bit... thanks for fixing the "flashing" the site was giving on the preview of orginal post!
I'd like to be able to keep the site page open when I click on off site resource links (a new window, rather than having the link take over my current window?)

How about a "test" area... to learn how to use all the goodies on a site? Or even a "tutor" to follow and do? (i.e. how to use smilies, make lists, use quotes)

While in the pit of a fever from the pneumonia I think, it came to me that, if I hadn't already mentioned this, I should Features you'd like to see in an ideal mental health site for those of us who receive more PMs than we can handle at times...

we need a way to catagorize them... maybe mailboxes from "mods and admin" (wouldn't want to skip over them Features you'd like to see in an ideal mental health site ) or more active members? I know yahoo mail does this, don't know if it's possible on a site like this with PMs... come to think of it, I might have mentioned that one..

[b] but how about a PM capability ON A POST? Many times a PM comes to me regarding someone's post, and I have to go trying to find it, if they haven't been able to copy and paste the link... If someone could leave a PM to read AT the thread... then I would automatically receive that PM (snuggled in with the other posts that everyone sees...) (kind of like a PM in chat, when you don't use the pop up window?)

I know there's a notify mod at the bottom for suspect posts... but to be honest, sometimes members here care so much about each other, we get concerned and want to flag or make note in private about a post...it would be easier at the thread imo

am I perfectly confusing in this now? Features you'd like to see in an ideal mental health site

It would include a button on my computer screen that I could touch and order a foot maseuse to come to my home, and give me a two-hour foot rub.

Seriously it would be nice to shut SOME PM off but not all and not ignore

I understand what you're asking for Sky, it's a good suggestion...

You want folks to be able to PM a poster, and have the PM automatically refer to the post they're PM'ing from... So the person the PM is sent to can go look at the post and see what the PM'er is talking about.

Good stuff here, I appreciate it all.

DocJohn

I agree! Maybe a per day limit for NEW THREADS, with allowance for more if ok'd by mod or something like that? (I wouldn't want to limit anyone who after posting their fun stuff, has an emergency need or such.)

This would also help members remember to use the search and pull up old threads to add to them Features you'd like to see in an ideal mental health site

I like _Sky's and Sleeps' suggestion a LOT regarding a posting limit for new threads!

I realize that I'm still in mediation training, but I'd be happy to attempt to help in this area.

I think DocJohn is still using this as an idea thread for a future site?

I'd be happy with a General Forum that isn't filled with threads that should be moved by someone! Features you'd like to see in an ideal mental health site
