A saga...not the one I feared, though.

I went to the new hospital nearby (6 miles to it, 3 miles to old one)... Was confused from the get go. I forgot the script MD gave me for chest xray. So after filling out the forms( SOB, possible pneumonia), I told them I was going out to get it. They had said if I had the script I would be taken straight in.

It wasn't in car so I drove home and back... 20 minutes.

When I got back they said I lost my place in line because I left. Ok...here's the script, let's do the xray. WEll, there was something about no one would read it tonight.. HUH? how do they know to treat me? Well, I'm not going through the ER (huh? I'm thinking, looks like an ER.) Ok, so once I get the xray they'll know if I need treatment. Yeah but something about that not happening.

I ended up at the financial desk. Check in had kept script, so I showed her doctors orders sheet... then a nurse and the guy from front came back to talk with me...and I became more confused. They had me in the system...now I'm thinking it was under the worker comp... even though Iwas trying to get them to take my BC/BS... yeah bet I would've gotten treatment then.

I told them I was too sick to understand and make decisions... I came because I'm short of breath and I have chest pains... they put some device on finger and said I'm breathing fine.

Ok. How do you get the xray to my doctor if it isn't read? (shes in another county, btw) Oh, they'll read it over a West (the old hospital)... but not tonight. I couldn't get the exit door opened by myself..and struggled with it a minute or two before someone offered to help...

I left, nearly in tears... I told them I need treatment, I'm too confused to figure it all out.

Ok, so on the way home, I figure I';ll go by the old hospital (west)... but the guard at the door stopped me, asked if I was a patient..and I asked how busy are they and he said extremely...(they had ppl stacked on each other practically, and the wagon just drove up too) I can't do that scene... the other ER wasn't that crowded but enough, and bright lights and two tv's blaring (noise) and how to sit I"m in chronic pain.

Once again, my best wasn't good enough. and I missed Grey's anatomy too! I went (to ER), I saw, I left

I went (to ER), I saw, I left

I'm sorry, but thats dumb of them to turn you away like that. Last time I checked, it was TREAT people who come through the door to the ER, NOT turn them away (or confuse you - then again all doctors/professionals/ confuse me )

Sorry you're not feeling good, and even more sorry that you had to go through all that cr*p for nothing.

*HUG* If you're up to it. Hope you get this mess straightnened up soon.

Oh Sky!

((((((((((((((((( Sky )))))))))))))))))))

I'm so sorry. Can you call your Dr's answering service and leave a message of what happened and that you're worse and need to be admitted? It might work and it can't hurt.

If not, keep calling the old hospital's ER and ask when things have settled down so you can go there. I've had to go to two different ERs in one night.

I wish so much I was there so I could help you.

Love and hugs,

Jan

Have no answer, but can I give you a hug about now?
I can say, I know how all this ER stuff can tick a person off, been there and done that, well not a lot for me,but mostly for my loved ones.
Not as much as many others, but have had enough experience to have a very good view of it all.
Sky, hang in there, many of us here are "rooting" for you, even if it is a quiet "root", is that okay?? I went (to ER), I saw, I left
Love to you.

Sky,

I know you're really downhearted, but please call your Dr. He's there to serve you. It's his job.

Love and hugs,

You said it!! I'm having a tug-o-war with my pdoc's assistant just to get her to notify my employer that I can return to work!!!

Oh {{{{{Sky}}}} - I can't even imagine!!!! I probably would have lost it and started yelling...and then I'd be admitted for a whole other diagnosis.

I'm so sorry you were treated so horribly!!!!

Warmly...

I'm so sorry!!! Did they give you a physical, listen to lungs, temp, etc? I just can't believe that.

I hope that you'll sleep well, if only from exhaustion. I went (to ER), I saw, I left I hope knowing that pulse-oxygen was good helps with the sleep and concerns that you have right now as well. It does help my mind some.

Be safe, and think about calling md if not feeling lots better tomorrow?

Love,

KD

Sigh. made it through night...thanks to ambien... well was up about 3 or 4 am... and went ahead and took antibiotic...so I'm feeling
"managed" right now. I keep forgetting to take my pain med, so I am suffering more than I need to... only have oatmeal to eat today, so if I don't go out, I need to order in? IDK. I still feel feverish on and off... and chills on and off... probably not a good idea to be around others?

I have one more dose. of antibiotic..and will be in town of MD tomorrow for other therapies... so we'll see. She would give me another breathing treatment, I'm sure. There's a hospital a block from her office, too, in case she is still upset (MD is a she.)

I left a few messages for T... phoeey I had been priding myself on not bothering him... but my inability to do the ER scene is attributable to my PTSD

Thanks bunches for all the thoughts... I went (to ER), I saw, I left

No, KD they only took o2 rating at front desk and said I'm not sob (still scratching head on that one) but yeah, I wouldn't die from lack of breathing?

Hugs SKy,
What they did was wrong on their part. What I wouls do is call your doctor's answering servise and the doctor call you back and explain what happen ,Just maybe the doctor can do something to get you the treatment you need .The thing on your finger was a o2 test to see the oxgen level and where it is. What the hopsital did was wrong, Please call your doctor and hopefully they can get it all streighten out. Thing will work out. I hope you feel better soon .

Sky, what can I say? Except that I'm sorry it turned out like this. I know you need to be treated, Iv'e went through what you have atleast six times and it is not very pleasant. The only advice I can give you is to call your doctor and explain that your worse and maybe he'll admit you so that atlast you can get treated and finally get over this affliction--Good luck to you.

Euch.

Yucky for sure.

But Sky, I dont know where you are, but I am not sure they are even allowed to turn you away, are they?

I am in canada and I know that an e.r. cant just turn you away without a doctor seeing you and dismissing you.. at least Im pretty sure..

Anyway, I'm feeling a bit better this morning ...took last dose of antibiotic. Hopefully I won't need any ER this time.

Still feels some like breathing through water (I went (to ER), I saw, I left)

Thanks for all your concerns... knew you'd understand.

Sky,
It really stinks the way you were treated.

But I'm glad you are feeling a little better today.

Do you have asthma? Maybe an inhaler would help you breath easier.

No, not asthma, but I do have a daily use inhaler, due to compromised respiratory system... used to use it only as a rescue breather for like when I aspirate...but MD said to not do that. sigh. I also have Astelin for the sinus problem which developes after every pain reaction crying jag. grrrr

Yeah, I don't know if I will persue educating the training staff of the ER group in recognizing PTSD and how to help ppl like me! Maybe I'll ask T today, not sure...there are too many things to discuss already.

Tks

I can't believe how they treated you. It is just beyond my imagination that a facility would not treat you when you obvioulsy needed some care. I hope your doc can find out why it happened and get it straightened out if not for now but for the next time.

I am glad you are feeling better and I hope soon you will be back to feeling well.

Take care.

UGH! somehow we think what happened there was more than a PTSD reaction. you're ill and under the weather. anyone in that shape wouldn't be up to handling the bs of the ER on a good day. in the condition you were in AND the idiocy of the ER staff AND your PTSD then you had a lovely set up for nothing to happen other than you leaving in a huff (rightfully so too!!) and them standing there wondering what just happened.

UGH! please don't chalk this all up to you and your reactions. yes, you are correct triggers did play into this but they did NOT define this scenario.

the ER staff played a role (or chose not to intervene appropriately.....however you want to phrase it) and they did a junky job.

anyone, with or without PTSD, would be upset at they way they were treated if they had been through what you described in the first post of this thread.

hope T helps you regain perspective today. we pray the antibiotics are swiftly doing their thing. tc and sorry to read the ER was such an ordeal for no relief. I went (to ER), I saw, I left
