My husband is taking time off from work to go with us. I am so grateful for that.

It was a very long day. We're exhausted.

They are going to try a target therapy with a drug called
Tarceva. It's used in Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
to slow down the growth of tumors.

It works 30% of the time. If it works she could live another six months or so.

If not, they will continue to treat her symptoms and make her comfortable.

My mother is in denial which is ok I guess. We left the hospital after a grueling six hours and all she wanted to know was if she should have someone paint the shutters on her house.

I am hanging in there. I think now that I know what type of time frame we're looking at, I can better prerpare myself.

My mother and I had hope that the radiation was going to buy her five years. (that was mentioned as a possible outcome of the treatment)

Typical how I'm always blindsided when I let myself have hope, yet I continue to set myself up. Idiot.

Your not an idiot, your simply human. WE all want to have the things that matter around us for as long as possible. Hang in there orange

((((((((( Orange ))))))))))) Your not an idiot for having hope. If you are , welll then so have many of us when we've been in similar situations. And thats just not possible now is it? Its not wrong to not want to give up on the ones we love and care about. I cant count the numerous times I have done what your doing with my mom. I loved her, I didnt want anything to happen to her that would cause everyone to lose her. And I know thats how your feeling also. Its not selfish. Its just because we know how painful it can be and how much we will miss them. So know that its ok to have hope. Its ok to want to her to feel better. Its ok to want to have her around longer.Its not ok for you to beat yourself up for having these feelings . She wouldnt want you to do that, neither do any of us here want to see you do that. We are here for you . Keep talking. Keep letting your feelings out hon. But be gentle with yourself. Just like you would be with any of us here.
