My t looks like Brad Pitt, but younger (he is 39). This is why is has taken me 2 years to be able to talk to him. He has brown hair and hazel eyes, a perfect body, and is a very good dresser. Always dress slacks and button shirts, sometimes with french cuffs and cufflinks. He wears an undershirt. Fancy socks and shoes. He used to wear a tie also, until the day we had a conversation about why I find him so intimidating, and now he doesn't wear the tie anymore, but it doesn't help. One day when it was a snowy day he wore jeans and boots, but he also wore a cashmere sweater. He wears cologne, and in the past month for some reason it has become a bit overpowering.

I always try to look nice when I go to t, but not as nice as him. Jeans or nice pants, shirt or sweater, nice socks (because I take off my shoes to put my feet on the couch), I wear makeup every day, but apply it a little more carefully on t days. Hair always freshly washed.

My T reminds me a little bit of the sex therapist in Meet the Faulkers when it comes to clothing and hair. Relaxed with a little style. What I wear: depends on my mode. If I feel bright and cheerful during the summer I wear something bright to my appt with flip flops and red toe nail polish. If I feel dark I wear jeans with black shoes and a black sweater/top and if I'm in a ok mode i wear a brown top with brown shoes and jeans or khakis.

My T dresses business casual with dress pants and sweaters. I really like T shoes/boots. They look very comfortable. T makes me feel very comfortable.
Myself: I work in an office setting and go to T after work so I wear whatever I wear to work.

Don't laugh at what I tell you next.
I write down in my calendar book what I wear to every visit just so I don't dulicate the outfit too often. I only do this for T and Prescribing Nurse. Am I Crazy? Or do other people do this too?

My T seems to have a 'therapy outfit', she wears the exact same outfit at about 90% of our appointments. Well, in summer it's a different one, but still.
I hope she washes them in between our sessions

I always wear fresh clothes when I go - I mean, I put them on just before I leave, I would never go in clothes that I wore all day. May sound strange but I think she likes my clothes, I see her watching them and she often makes a nice comment about them. May be just flattering me... I don't dress up special for her though.

I don't write it down, but I do tend to make sure I don't duplicate too often. For some reason I don't want him to see that I tend to stuck in a rut with the same few outfits over and over.

hi hugs, that's so funny, i totally do the same thing. i don't write them down, but yes, i do keep track in my head so i'm not wearing repeats. i don't know why this would bother me though, who cares?!

as for my therapist, she dresses nice, but casual. and yes, i've seen her feet in the summer, but it doesn't bother me in the slightest. one time, we had to do our session barefoot, which was actually kind of nice!

My dress wear for work is limited. And since I go right after work for T appointments, I am sure she has seen me in probably all the dress/work clothes I own! And I've only been seeing her for a not quite 2 months. (I so need to get more outfits for work)

I keep track of what I wore up to 2-3 weeks. I always do, wherever I'm going. I have enough clothes but end up wanting to wear the same items over and over again anyway.

I don't have a T but I can tell you about the Psychiatrist

Young...maybe 35
wears jeans
does not look like a psychiatrist...looks like someone you would meet at a bar
dark skinned, black hair
CUTE

and I am old enough to be his mom so I don't dress up for him but I do look o.k. as I don't want him to think I have shrunk again into the hands of my major depression

I used to write down on calendar when I was teaching adult ed. I had only so many tops and so many bottoms. The classes were M/W & T/Th and I wrote on calendar so I wouldn't duplicate my mixes.

With T, I hate to admit that I try not to duplicate too often. I guess it's because she's the only person whom I see regularly who will be looking at me for 50 minutes straight. I work at home so dressing up to go to work is not an issue.

But what's really weird about it is that I hate fashion and paying attention to clothing. My adult daughters just roll their eyes at me and wonder where they got their fashion interest. I hate clothes shopping. So, the question is - why am I paying attention to what I wear to session?

Suratji,
I'm in the same boat. I don't "go to a job" so its usually just me and my grubbies. I'm not into clothes either, but for some reason it matters on T days. Odd because he's not into clothes either. Maybe I just want to prove that I do have some shred of self esteem?

My therapist could easily pass as a real sexy librarian, about half the time in a skirt the other half slacks.
And yes I do dress differently to a point, I make sure I have on one of my nicer shirts, and I over think what to wear far more when I see her than at any other time in my life. And no I don’t match my clothes to my mood, would be boring to always wear black.

You could wear pink or red or yellow one day. I bet T would look surprised.
