Another member here just said this in a reply post and it really hit home!!! (If it's ok with the member, I'll say who "No failing in therapy" )

There's no failing in therapy. Not if you stick with it... even when you hate it, don't think it's helping, etc.....

there's no failing in therapy as long as you ARE in therapy and trying... it's when you quit that you might have failed....

(but if you begin again... you haven't failed!)

Yes, you might have to change therapists even.. but with that, you ARE doing therapy for yourself, taking care of your own best self interest, see?

"No failing in therapy" keep going.

hey Sky...... what if I am not doing what I should do then? What I know is best for me? And what the T tells me I should do as well???? What's the idea if you want help, but won't do the work... of course this is what I'm working at... to be able to choose the good instead of the bad...

hrm!

Yes, I believe this, but if there is very little therapy going on, as in my case, what then? I'm thinking about quitting partial where there is hardly any therapy being offered...at least not on the level I need it.

but.. don't you see? You are learning... maybe patiently... to begin to ? want to change things? get motivated to change things? deciding if is is worth the work?? ...it's all part of growing, taking care of ourselves... for some of us the pace is slower in some areas, than for others. IMO as long as you're thinking about these things, you're "therapasizing" yourself! hehehe

Learning and growing including realizing the set-backs that we all have are part of therapy. No one learns and develops without stumbling a little on the way. Sometimes it takes change and different tactics to keep moving forward. It is growing to even realize this is necessary. To realize that you need to change even how you perform in therapy is a huge step in growing. Don't discount what you are learning, it may be more than you think.

Thanks Sky for expanding my view.

That's a great way of looking at it.
