Hi Fuzzy,

I was referred to a 'psychodynamic counsellor' a few years ago, by someone at our local Catholic church. I was in the middle of bereavement at the time.

This guy really did care, but he wasn't right for me. I stayed with him for a while, and I got quite fond of him.

In the end I walked the hard road alone, and I've done pretty well, even if I say so myself.

I think that there is a big problem between therapists and clients, as we tend to be upset by them as they start to work on our deepest problems. The drop out rate is very high and the success rate is quite low. For an analysis of this phenomena, M Scott Peck's book , 'The Road Less Travelled' is helpful.

Of course, there is always PC - We care!!

Good thoughts, M UK therapists

Dear Fuzzybear, I am from the UK too. Hi! I have a brilliant therapist. He is a Psychologist and I do not know what I would do without him. I suggest that if your problem is a "here and now" one that you contact your doctor who will probably refer you to a CPN. If its a "past issue" it would probably be helpful to see a psychologist. My therapist is great but it has taken a long time for me to trust him and realise that he is on "my" side. Quite often issues from the past make you think that nobody cares. Anyway, I hope this helps. UK therapists

I'm sorry I don't have any information--- just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you and hoping you can find someone that will be kind and caring. I imagine they are out there-- just a bit hard to locate.

Hoping you will find a caring and kind therapist, Fuzzy. UK therapists
