Really all you need is a skein or two of a yarn you like and needles in a size to match, which any yarn shop owner could help you select. Very portable.

The coach is portable! Lola has a iPad and iPhone! She has pc wherever she goes

Yep you can fly with them, especially if you go with bamboo or circular needles. A skein is essentially a ball of yarn before it has been wound into a ball.

I do like the idea of you making little bird sweaters

I adored that series as read on NPR. It was on Saturday mornings, and I'd get up, make coffee and breakfast, and hop back into bed with it to listen.

I need to get back into listening to radio: especially in bed--like being read to. I miss that!
