Enjoy your youngest, BP. Influence her with your awesome musical taste. And I believe your oldest will come around. Do you like Neil Young?

Murray, maybe you could pack like this... get two boxes... mark one for the room that you are in and mark other storage... pick something up and decide if I'm using in new place it goes in room box if not sure it goes in storage box... then move to next room...

We moved a lot when we were first married but I always had a hard time of letting go of places so I always procrastinated... this was my best method... then when it came to junk drawers... I would just dump in box and mark junk drawer... I used to get paralyzed in trying to decide keep or not keep... and doing it perfect...

I found it was much easier to let go of things when I found there was no place or need for them in my new place...

Good luck Murray. Next Saturday my college buddies are coming to help finish my move(the heavy stuff). It will be my past intersecting with my present. We may have a wino party in the house we are leaving.

I have never knowingly listened to Pearl Jam before. After now having done so, I think I must be too old or too in to some other types of music to ever do so again.

I like that, LC. Reminds me of my youth.

Hey SD, that song is not representative of their work. It is a cover of a 50's tune with the saccharin sweet melodrama. They dedicate it to the girl because it is her favorite song. It's a benefit concert for a school for exceptional kids. Look at her expression when it is being played and tell me it's no good. And I'm older than you, so maybe it is reason 2.

I am familiar with the original of the song. It was the singing here that I did not like, not the song (which I also don't like but was not the problem here.) And I am fairly certain I am older than you. I know they are popular. And, being a stone alien, the expression on the face of the school child moved me not.
And to think I almost worked with adolescents for a living.

OK, gotcha. And we have done the age thing previous. October 1960. Were you born before then?

Close enough to be a draw.

Perhaps I should go try to inspire younger people. I am certain I would be a raging success what with my infectious love of life.

Sadly I am a crappy lesbian about SHitR.

I can listen to some Chris Williamson, Meg Christian, Indigo Girls, a few others from the 70's and very early 80's and one Melissa Etheridge song.
I usually cannot abide Holly Near.

Right now I am alternating between Flatt and Scruggs and a few early Baroque artists.

I didn't even know this was lesbian music... alas I saw Melissa in concert, I was close enough to count her fillings while she sang.

I spent the evening online with my son buying stuff to be shipped directly to the stores in his college town. My daughter found out Bed, Bath & Beyond lets you do that. We are flying there with him -- flying Southwest so we can each check two bags for him and get more stuff there for him. We're renting a car, driving to the store and picking up the stuff and delivering everything to the dorm. I keep weeping randomly thinking about him leaving. He mentioned his girlfriend leaving on the 15th and I started crying about that. We talked about the fact that our elderly horse will probably be gone by the time he comes home again and I started weeping about that.

Now there is a stupid sitcom that is about Thanksgiving and I am crying about that because my Dad and I always made Thanksgiving dinner together, and I am stressing thinking that my MIL will want to bring her new boyfriend who I hate and who is a horrible person and for whom I never want to cook for again. How dumb am I to be already worrying about that?

I am not saying SWitR are lesbians, but they were quite a popular thing for the women's/lesbian pot luck era to listen to.
One night a friend of mine was playing Melissa Etheridge on the stereo and I swear I could not tell if the tape or cd had been changed all night. Actually I could not have said the song changed all night.
I do like kd lang.

I'm gonna take that as confirmation that I am older.

And here is Mr. Banjo on the 6 string, which goes to show even coeval opposites can have common interests.

I think being weepy at a child leaving to go to college/armed forces/married etc is a usual sort of thing from what friends of mine with children tell me. I think just being all feely on that part sounds like part of the deal for parents.

On the other thing about MIL and her boyfriend - that sounds like a time to use the cbt stuff.
Or I could be wrong. Just a thought.

your old school SD... here's one for you

MKAC people like us, hope you dont mind being grouped in with me, are always prepared and thinking about potential danger... its ok

I know that watching your son go must be a devastating blow to you as a caring mother, but rest easily in the fact that you have done a great job and raised a great young man and all he has to do now is follow the path you have already shown him to success and happiness.
Thanks for this!
