That sucks, dude. I know way too many people who don't have jobs now -- it's rough out there.

That seemed intimidating and unwelcoming to me. If there had been additional comments such as, how interesting, you seem to know so much, etc - but those niceties were missing. And when the newbie disappeared from the couch, there was no followup.

Full disclosure - i made a joke at the newbie's expense this past weekend in the giant thread. Now we were just starting to get along, and he gets nailed with this question? Like who the heck is he to come on the couch? What does he do for a living anyway? Sorry - not cool. So it feels like mkac fired a shot across my bow, not like i took the first shot. I have not been commenting on her threads at all, except for an occasional hug. So i have been trying to give her her space. Oh, except for once this weekend in the giant thread.
i so wish i could respond to this in a nice way i really do but it can happen . none of this had to have anything to do with you at all or you issues with rterroni.

My question was because you seemed really knowledgeable about the process in your area for jury selection. I was just curious if you were also an attorney or a law student. Nothing else implied. Just curiosity. I apologize but it did not occur to me that it would be taken as offensive.
Thanks for this!

I guess I was just someone who looks forward to having Jury Duty (crazy right but yet I still made sure to get out of the one that I knew I would be able to), that I do a lot of research before going.

Although on the same topic if an attorney get summoned to Jury Duty does anyone know if they would ever get selected to serve on a Jury (my guess is probably not).

In my jurisdiction it is possible for an attorney to serve on a panel and it does happen.

It doesn't really bother me much since I have a lot of financial assistance right now, my dad (who has been out of work for 9 months right now) is the one who should be worried.

BTW in an ironic twist to this whole thing the day my dad got laid off was also the day I last had Jury Duty (to tie everything back together) .

I am thinking of making a turkey pot pie. It just takes so long because the only way my family likes it is totally from scratch.

I know of it happening a once when the attorneys conducting voir dire ran out of peremptory strikes. Essentially, each played chicken with the other, thinking the other would go ahead and strike the attorney from the jury panel, so they could use their peremptory on someone else. The attorney who went last just took a gamble on leaving the other attorney on the jury because it was a defense attorney and he hoped a defense attorney would be sympathetic to his client.

It bothers me that a case could be won or lost on jury selection.

I have session with YT in an hour... We're supposed to talk about my mother...

Feels sort of awkward because I told him about T2 saying something that upset me and i didnt talk to her about it in that session and he asked what that would mean for our relationship.... What would i do if he upset me?

I told him I would try to say it in session... He told me I could text it to him too but i dont have his cell number and it felt like too much to tell him that...

OMG... My number one fav book and movie. Gregory Peck...WOW. When I was little I created Aticus Finch in my mind and in my fantasy world he was my caretaker. If I ever find an Aticus Finch who is a T, I may be set for life. Sigh.

HEY! I need to tell D this, she is looking for something to make her stand out as a cosmetologist!

and MKAC:

I have testified in court several times as a witness...usually for fraud cases (I do forensic accounting). I have had to go for a juror pool a few times too, one time I was almost selected, but the judge asked me if there were any reason that I couldn't serve. I took a breath and said "sir, my 5 yr old son has the chicken pox, and I believe my 3 yr old daughter is about to come down with them" The next thing I heard was a very loud "DISMISSED". lol. (It wasn't a lie, and d did end up with them the next day)

Well, T has not gotten back to me after my email last night. I was swearing at him under my breath all day today because at the very least he could just email and say.. hey sorry, no appointment earlier than Friday or something. Then H and I showed up for MC today and another T was using his office, so my guess is that he didn't go to work today. So, I suppose if I was trying to look at it rationally, he didn't email me back because he wasn't actually working today, he was sick, one of his kids was sick, etc..

I suppose if I wanted a more immediate response, I could text.. but it just doesn't seem that urgent.
