Do you all have therapists with more than one clock in their office? All of my shrinks have had multiple clocks, even ones I really like. But I find it kinda annoying. I mean I know it is important to keep the session within the time frame, but really does there have to be like 3-4 clocks in the room?

nope I think there is only 1 clock in T office that you can see from both seats. I would find 3-4 clocks annoying too. Dont need that many to watch the time.
I hope they are all silence, the tick tock would drive me mad!

My T has three clocks in his office, none of which are in my direct line of sight once I'm seated in my usual spot. I could see two of them fairly easily if I turned to look, but I don't care to. I'd rather just let T worry about the time.
Thanks for this!

I have a sort of innate sense of time so I just intuitively know that the 45 minutes have passed and it's time to wrap it up for the day. So it feels strange, kinda alienating or even slightly insulting to have so many clocks. Didn't realize that I was perturbed about a little object in a room until now.

My T does not have any clocks in her office. She does have a watch though she never looks at it. Somehow she just knows when time is up and "wraps up" the session.

My pdoc doesn't have a clock either, but he watches his watch. I always feel rushed.

Are they nice designs? Maybe T just likes clock designs.

All of the Therapists I have seen have only had one clock in their offices, and a prior Therapist I even saw in multiple rooms at multiple offices and always only saw 1 clock.

T just has the one clock in her office and it is facing me, I have no idea how she keeps track of time during session.

I don't like monitoring the time in my sessions (omg only 10 minutes left), so I quite like the fact that the only clock in my therapists office is on a filing cabinet behind me. I didn't even notice where it was for a long time as my therapist is abnormally good at judging 50 minutes (which often seems long, short, or anywhere in between to me), and she almost always only glances briefly at the clock when there is about 2 minutes of the session left.

T has a cheap clock in her office. The first few times it was on the table between us. Then she put it on the mantelpiece where only she can see it, although I can turn my head to see the time too if i want.

Sometimes we finish 1 minute or two minutes short of the official finishing time, although I think this may be because we started early?

cbt T has one clock BUT lately he has been setting his iPhone to go off 5 minutes before the end of session. It's kind of jarring and I don't like it. Not sure why it feel it is hurtful but I do.

Come to think of it my current shrink does like design and so might like these objects. He never seems to be looking at them though. Only one is directly intended to be seen by the patient. One is over my head and the other on a wall that neither of us face though it is large and quite visible.

Now that I think more about it I realize it might be that he is a psychiatrist who has about 80 patients so he must need to reinforce the time limits just to keep up and make sure he has time in between to answer calls or make prescription orders.

My T has one clock that only T can see (I'd have to turn very obviously and awkwardly from any place where I'd sit in order to see it.) DBT has at least three clocks, one which is a digital clock in my direct line of vision which I despise. I do not want to have to think about the time while I'm there - I'd rather the T watch it and keep track! My Pdoc may or may not have a clock - always runs late in that office so I don't think it much matters!

A previous T had at least 3 clocks, so no matter where you sat in her office you'd see one. I didn't like that, either.

The one I see has a clock on the table facing the client and another clock behind the client on the wall. If I cannot see the clock on the table, I use my own watch.

I have never seen a clock in my T's office. Not even one for her to look at. Until someone mentioned the phone, I had never figured how she always knows the exact ending time. I would love to be able to see a clock to be aware of the time I have left. I cannot see my watch in her office so I have to rely on her signals. Little frustrating.

My T has 2 clocks, one that is behind me on his desk that I can not see, the other is on the wall above the door to the office. for a while both clocks ticked and quite loudly at random times.
It really started to bug me as I thought it was intended to sound like the bilateral taps of EMDR and that he was "doing something to me that he had not asked permission to use". He had not even realised this when i brought it up, but the next week he had a new clock so only one ticked at random times.

T has one clock. Normally only she could see it. However, I don't use the furniture she has in her office. It is too soft/plush for my taste. Instead, I bring in a chair from the waiting room. From where I put the waiting-room chair, I can see the clock.

Perhaps those who are dissatisfied with the clock arrangement offered by T could ask for a change during their session or could bring their own.

When I first started with YoungT (YT) he had one small digital clock on the table by the sofa where I sit but I couldn't see it and it was set up for him to see. I must have asked what time it was twice during my first session and he asked if I had somewhere to be and I said no I was just used to having a clock I could see...

The next week he had another of the small digital clocks sitting on the bookcase across the room from the sofa where I sit. I thanked him for it even though I know it wasn't just for me.

2-one for the client and one for the T- both bit behind and on the right of the other person.
I like to control the session's timing- guess it empoweres me a tiny bit.

Timing is one of the negatives with my T, she has a clock in a each office but doesn't really seem to use them. She rather senses when we have worked enough for the day or if I need more time. Her sessions are supposed to be 1h, but actually tend to range from 45 minutes to 1h15... but went up to 2h once when I was really struggling.

On top of this she's always up to an hour late. I used to be annoyed by it, but honestly I now appreciate the time to ground myself when I arrive in her waiting room.

T has one clock directly in front of where I sit. I like it because I am a clock-watcher. He did take the batteries out once (without telling me) and he had set his watch on the corner of the desk so he could track the time.

The woman's clock was broken once and I got out my watch. She asked what I was doing and I told her her clock was not working. She then picked up the clock, examined it and said "You are right" - like I would have been wrong about the clock not working. My keeping track of the time is not going to be thwarted by wily therapists.

Probably for those clients/patients that don't respect the time boundaries. You May have an innate comprehension, of the limits. My current talk therapist, uses body language as cue. I take that cue, not everyone is good at those cues. I never thought to count his clocks, sounds like an observation is in order, to answer how many. At least one, and a watch....(Thursday)

Yes, that's true. My shrink is also a doctor with lots of patients so he needs the in between session time to answer calls and phone in prescriptions so he has to be careful about the time. It is probably that there are others in his practice that aren't as sensitive, don't pick up on cues as you said, or are not aware of his own needs as I am.

My T only has one and it's behind me, so she can only see it unless I turn around. She takes 15 minutes between clients to get herself adjusted. Which is a good healthy practice
