I have a lot of half empty bottles because I don't drink very often. I don't drink enough to be able to tell they have gone off. No sensitive palate here. I like scotch too. And Rye.

Disagreement is fine with me. And I speak in general, not at any one thread or poster. It is not that I agree with the op on a lot of threads, I just more disagree with the idea of being mean because you care is justified because one is frustrated with an op not following the great advice you have given. Frankly most things people report on here about their therapy concerns or therapist or whatever baffle me to no end. But as it is not my life, why would I get all upset because they did not do what I might do, or think should be done or advised? Sometimes I try to show that I have some understanding a person is having a rough go of it or say how I would do it- but I don't know if it is what someone else should do or not. and I really hate others giving me unsolicited advice. I do like reading how others do things /therapy themselves.

I think fake sugar/mrs butterworth are a disaster in general.

As long as no excessive hugging of the therapist involved, I presume. (I am joking here.)

Also: Sugar-free syrup?? That sounds like a) a contradiction in terms, and b) pointless.

I don't think I would ever start a thread of my own.

I find those the most baffling and sort of like reading science fiction horror stories.

The most frightening one I've read yet is the orgasm in therapy thread. Ackkkkk!

What scares me (seriously) is when people talk about feeling "safe" here. THIS IS AN UNSAFE PLACE, PEOPLE! Every thread is read by at least a few hundred people. The majority don't log in and have no user account. Google indexes every post in every thread. Talking about personal things here is a lot like writing them out and nailing them to a board in a town square. I'm sure a lot of people without MH issues read the boards for laughs; I stopped posting to the "Dear T" thread when one poster (not a long-term member, I think she only made a few posts) wrote about how hilarious she found that thread. And of course there are plenty of people who are not what they claim - I don't think there are many trolls, because those are relatively easy to screen, but it is well-known that any popular discussion forum is going to have impostors, and it would be very strange indeed if at least 5% of the people who post here weren't writing as some kind of made-up persona.

Sorry, rant over. If people want to expose their problems knowing the realities that's fine - I do it myself sometimes - but believing that the boards are safe is simply wrong.

Mast, you make me think. I've got a thread at the moment on the complex ptsd forum that I wrote and wish I could take back. I shared too much information. Anyone know how I could get it deleted?

Click the small red triangle icon at the lower left corner - it's the same form you can use to report an inappropriate post, but I have used it a few times to have my own threads deleted.

I used to be able to post images on here, but now cannot. I wonder what is up with that?

Because that is my pressing concern at 4 am when I have already been up for several hours and did a little work and looked at dogs on Petfinders despite having what might politely be called"many" animals in my life. I think my friends need more animals though. I feel sorry for some of them. One friend only has ONE dog. Another friend only has ONE cat. How can you only have one cat? They are sort of like potato chips. It is almost impossible to stop at one.

Sorry to hear that growlycat. I get it through. It sucks when you can't sleep. That's me most nights.

Tonight I'm on one of the "I'm so tired from not sleeping other nights that I might just pass out" nights. Baby girl woke me for feed so here I am. I can barely keep my eyes open.

Also hate waking up late and scurrying madly because an intermittent nights sleep always means hitting snooze too many times! Happy Monday and pass the Java please!'85: "We Are The (Couch) World..."

Snow day for us here... We are getting the very ends of the winter storm on the extreme NE of the country.. -20 windchill this morning plus snow and wind.. I am grateful I don't have to be out on the roads! Now, this probably means I should be productive. Clean the house, start working on report cards..

So when you day "snow day", it means "a day off because of snow"? Like a rain check, kinda sorta? Hankster just used the expression in another thread, and I thought she was talking about a day with snowfall but it didn't really make sense in the context, so I tried to look it up. I wonder if it is an American expression.

Yep, day off because of snow.. The school systems around here build "snow days" into their calendars because we know we will inevitably have bad weather through out the winter and will need the day off. So, that is when they use one of their snow days. Once we've gone through our allotted snow days we start taking day off of our vacations.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
