Yikes. Here is the highlight of my snowday, and its not even noon yet. A neighbor who apparently should be in an assisted living facility invited me to change her adult diaper (because her usual helpers cant get here). I referred her to another neighbor who i know at least used to work or volunteer at the VA hospital, in what capacity i dont know. I have never even changed a baby's diaper. I'm a little freaked out. I told her to get back to me if she couldnt find anyone else. Is this weird? Its more than a cup of sugar.

Eta - snow day has taken on a whole new meaning for me!!
Thanks for this!

Uhmm... It is weird, but at the same time if her caregivers can't get there then she must be desperate. I'm sure it is probably a hard thing for her to ask of you.

I'm not sure how I would handle that. I would probably just do it...... That's if I answered the phone or the door in the first place lol

It would be uncomfortable to be asked - but I also think how very uncomfortable to be in the position where one would have to ask a neighbor to help with such a thing and somewhat brave to ask after her usual arrangements were disrupted. I hope someone does help her.

So I successfully achieved a 1 hour and 45 minute nap last night. I should have just come into work at 04:00! Been busy so far this morning but it's a good Monday as of now.

The good mother that I am, during this snow day I have introduced my kids to the music of eve 6, Nirvana, Third eye blind, life house.. All the bands that were popular while I was in high school (well Nirvana was before my high school days).. Quiet a change from the Christian contemporary music they are allowed to listen to in the car or the frozen sound track!

Just listening to it in the kitchen while I clean and the kids play.. so they aren't being that corrupted!

Hankster seriously you aren't obligated to be THAT much of a good neighbor .

Is 311 or 211 (info line) all over the country? Maybe there are emergency medical services for the elderly in your town?

Hankster.... I wouldn't do that for my own family members except my H or my kids... not my parents or siblings or anyone...let alone a neighbor. I am not meant for that kind of work...

when I told my SIL, who is almost 20 years older than me and who does not have children, that I would take care of her in old age... take care of meant... I will hire someone great to take care of you.
Thanks for this!

This flu thing I've been fighting for going on 3 weeks now, that I thought I was getting over, it was just giving me a break. I went grocery shopping yesterday (one store) and it wore me out completely. I told my friend I couldn't come to her superbowl party after all and went to bed early last night and slept all night, woke up this morning just long enough to call in sick to work, and went back to sleep for 5 more hours. I'm up now, took a hot shower, and have camped out in front of the tv where I will stay probably for the rest of the day. Blah. I hate being sick!

That sucks. I hope you feel better soon! I hate being sick also. Last time I was sick it was a disaster... trying to be sick, take care of the kids, get to my appointments, and still try to get better.

Thinks: would there be a market for a nitrogen atmosphere drinks cabinet?

Aren't we all using some kind of made-up persona? It's the human condition.

You are right when you say this is a public space and cannot be safe. But a wider range of personae are accepted here than in many public spaces.

That's a non sequitur at best. You know that's not what I was referring to.
