I do care about feelings. A lot. When you post, many of the readers have intense feelings about how such a brilliant and intelligent young musician is in pain and we can not help her effectively. The word therapist implies having a license to practice psychotherapy. Your coach is lovable, supportive, a lovely woman for you to have in your life, but she is not a therapist.

Much of my family lives in Boston. My 22-year-old cousin is out building snowmen with her friends and posting silly pictures of themselves in snow gear on facebook. I'm sure they have a drink or two on the weekends, but they're out socializing and making the best of it. Even if making the best of it involves taking pictures of the crazy snowbanks all over campus-- and tagging me to say Boston is worse than the Upper Midwest right now (which is where I live). I bet there are fun things to do on your college campus as well, if you were interested in getting out of your dorm and doing something with the other students--- perhaps that very cold friend of yours!

There are many other ways for you to get help: peer groups, group therapy, outpatient, inpatient, AA.... Why do you need LC to help your friend? Why don't you go out to lunch, dinner, coffee, or tea with her? Why not go buy her a space heater? Take her out to a movie? Invite her over to your place? Why not take care of someone you love?

I am worried about her roof and her her driveway even though I don't know she has a roof or a driveway or a basement. I know she lives in an apartment. Or I think I know that. I know she used to and it was cute from what I saw over Skype. So she might be on a floor that doesn't have a roof. But instead a floor above her. So it wouldn't be covered in snow. I dont want it to collapse. I love her. I tried to get friend to come stay with me but it was better that she went next door. So my friend is safe. I needed LCM because I was scared and needed to be comforted. |

You can still go visit your friend. It will reduce your fears and comfort you by seeing she's okay. And then you will also gain comfort by simply being in the presence of someone you love. Why don't you create like a little camping experience? Bring hot cocoa and maybe marshmallows? Go all out and bring grahm crackers and chocolate too for S'mores! Or simple bring some nice soup. Can do tomato soup and grilled cheese!
So many things you can do. And it's taking care of not only someone else, but yourself. You'll enjoy it and your LC will be proud of you for doing it.

I don't know if this is even possible...
Do you like pets? Like dogs, cats, birds, chinchillas, ferrets, hamsters, rats, mice, guinea pigs? Are you allowed to have a pet where you live? For me, and I know others here, pets are amazing and greatly help with mental health. Touching pets lower blood pressure, increase your mood, give you responsibility and purpose. My dogs have been life savers for me. And growing up, all my pets helped me survive my childhood. I had fish, a rabbit, guinea pigs, chinchillas, cats, dogs, birds, frogs, rats, mice (though they ate each other ![]()

This is a hard time for everyone in Boston - everyone is getting cabin fever. Playing video games and drawing is great to keep distracted. Is there anyone around campus that can walk to and just hang with? It's the drinking alone thing that triggers people into thinking there is an alcohol problem. If you were drinking socially then it would sound more college typical.

Is it possible for you to own a corgi? I think it would be great for you. I think (if the law concerning it in CA and where you're at are the same), you are allowed to have a "companion" pet no matter where you live if you have a doctors note saying that it's necessary for your quality of life. And the landlord has to allow it, cannot charge you pet rent or a pet deposit. The only thing they can do is charge you for any damage when you move out. I think the law would even apply to a dorm.

Yeah the missions are tough especially since I'm playing GTA 4 on PC. Fun fact: I actually have worked with Final Fantasy. I played principal trumpet on the Jump Festa trailer for Final Fantasy 15 which I think is the most recent trailer. The English version and the Japanese video has I think nearly million combined views on YouTube. I love working for video game industries. It's some of the most fun things I do and I'm looking forward to more work I'm doing with another game that I'm under contract to not name until stuff is released :P. It's one of my favorite franchises that I didn't list above. No, I can't own a pet. I would love one, but the dorm would kick me out. I want to move out again with my friend and her two Maine coons next year. |

How have you been doing the last couple of days? Have you done one productive thing each day that you can report on when she gets back?

How are you hanging in there?? I know and understand how you feel and your LCM. It can feel like a ridiculous sort of hell, eh?
If I could offer you one piece of advice to help you -- the #1 goal of a LCM, T, pdoc, or anyone else in this field is to see the client they very much care for get healthy. The best thing you can do for your LCM right now is take a step forward to help yourself. Baby steps work great! I know this is easier said than done, but, you can do it! You just got a bunch of snow -- get bundled up and go outside, lay on that white blanket and breath in that fresh, crisp air and make a snow angel. Go do something innocently fun. Just go do a little something to lift your spirits and take your mind off everything. Even if it's for a few minutes. It will help. And hopefully inspire you do keep taking steps forward. ![]() |

Haha I'm not going outside in this mess. It's like -677788 degrees and I think still blizzard conditions. It makes me really worried that LCM won't be able to come home. We've been absolutely pounded with snow over the past few weeks. My teachers have gotten stuck out of state. I'm worried she'll be stuck and I'll flip out and be sad when she doesn't text me because I'll know her flight probably got delayed, but I'd still be scared that she died. I asked her before she left how I'd know if anything happened and she just shrugged. I don't even know if she's alive right now. I'm not doing too great but I guess I'm not doing too badly. I still really REALLY miss her and it hurts that I still can't communicate with her at all. I've gotten absolutely no mental health care since she left because of her absence and the snow has cancelled all of my appointments. |
