I asked the mister after we built our house if he wanted us to get a yard guy or a pool boy... We don't have a pool so he picked the yard guy 😉... I'm not mowing our half acre. Um, nope.

When I am not having to do it every other day or so, I really don't mind the actual grass mowing. It has a sort of immediate gratification walk quality to it - shaggy grass/neat grass.
I hate all the other yard work. I don't rake up the fallen grass or hedge or anything. I let others handle flowers, hedging, trees, mulch etc.

My friend who had the party for me at her house the other night, with a bunch of our old co-workers, has a huge backyard - she said when they bought the house they had to have 40 trees cut down in the backyard so the grass would grow. Myself, I would have kept the trees!! She wants a pool - it was too funny, me her and our other friend (all women) totally ganged up on her husband (who used to work with us too) telling him to buy her a pool and all the reasons why he should. We all kept saying "Man, I haven't laughed like this is too long!" What a soul-refreshing time it was hanging out with my old friends. Miss them bunches. Oh yeah where I was going with this she just did some landscaping and it looks great - mulch around the house and planted flowers and put in some new sod down the side of the house, and they built a retaining wall also for seating next to the downstairs walk-out. Beautiful yard.

Aw, I love this! My best friend from high school and I only get to see each other once or twice a year, but every time is like we were just hanging out together yesterday. I get the feeling that it's always going to be like that for us, no matter how long we've been apart or how far we live from each other.
Thanks for this!

Some of us hadn't seen each other for 20 years - 20 years! Crazy, but yes, it felt like just yesterday that we'd all been together. We have an amazing bond that will last forever. I can't wait to see them again. It was like the best therapy session I've ever had times a thousand.

So a guy was mowing the grass on a riding mower near the bus stop. This one college kid (with a bunch of bags of snacks, like maybe for a party?) was sitting on the grass near the stop. The mower does the curb area, then comes back towards us all to do the first strip of thebig lawn by the sidewalk. The kid doesnt move!!! The mower just swoops around him. Then the kid glares at the mower guy, and shakes dust and grass out of his hair. Then he finally DOES move his entitled little butt and gets on my bus. I was dying to ask him, dude why didnt you move???
Thanks for this!

Also fabric and liquid heavy starch. Soak the fabric in the starch the squeegee it on the wall let it dry. Removable wallpaper that doesn't damage the wall. When you move just peel if off and rinse the wall.

Does anyone know what the jellybabies are for? In general, junior posters have green babies and senior posters have pink, but there are exceptions, eg Kaydub has a pink jellybaby after less than 500 posts.

Are you talking about the icons in the bottom left corner? They indicate your online status. Green means online pink offline

It should. I wouldn't try it with silk or fur 😉.

Time to get ready for an all day choir rehearsal/performance thing. I'm less than enthusiastic about this. The director has picked out obnoxiously high music for Soprano I (and I really am not a Soprano I, but she counts on me to be able to do it). If I have a voice by tonight it will be a miracle . . . and I have an audition for chorus tomorrow. This should be interesting. I've spent the morning warming up because the church choir director is NOT good about warming us up correctly; hopefully that will help save my voice. The camp ground where the service will be later today should be a muddy mess because of all the rain. Yes, I'm whining. Have to get it out of my system so I can go to rehearsal and play nice.

Good luck, lola. I know those things can be very hard on the voice.

When I was in the orchestra-the chorus soprano section had a reputation. Second altos, not so much.

The second trombones were often out seeking where a gentle maiden dwelleth, named yumyum.

I blame my lack of being able to sing (actually got an "F" in first quarter chorus in high school, even after we were assured all we had to do was show up and "try") on sixth grade when I was arbitrarily moved from alto to tenor, I think it was (they wouldn't move a girl to bass would they?) because they didn't have enough of whatever. They didn't give us any training or instruction either so now I wander all over the place at will, trying to follow the melody.

Every spring I try to convince my partner to let our yard turn "wild" and. Allow the moles and snakes and groundhogs to live peacefully in the meadow. Since we are rural and our yard is surrounded by woods on two sides we have tons of wildlife and song birds. Plus our pet ducks and geese keep it manageaBle. But it's a losing battle. She calls mowing the lawn "iinstant satisfaction" and I think she actually encourages the grass to grow just so she can get on the mower and mow again...riding mower though....we have a couple of acres.
Thanks for this!
