Wow - I did a whole post and it disappeared???

Great apt. tonight - as usual. We spoke a bit about my growing frustration of having tests to determine what is wrong with my right hip and have them all come out negative. Both the hypnotherapist and my chiro (who I also saw tonight) agree that they don't think it's fibro and I should continue with testing.

I told him I didn't want to have an MRI just to hear "everything is fine". He said nah, they'll say "the test is fine, it's all in your head". Coming from him it was funny - anyone else I would have been po'd.

I went under in the usual manner of the laying on the grassy bank by the river and then climbing in a row boat that floated towards me - gosh I think that boat has my name on it now Hypnosis
He talked alot tonight about taking care of my body and getting it prepared to be able to continue using my yoga tape, but to use it in a safe way that I won't hurt myself.

This was the first time I didn't remember everything - I think I went really deep, but a couple times I hit this weird feeling that could have been what you feel when you are on the brink of falling asleep. He said that's okay - he has people fall asleep but even asleep, as long as he continues to talk their subconscious hears it and it helps. Next week we are going to go over some meditation methods.

He is very kind and I am so comfortable with him. I got very lucky. I have to say in the 17 years I've been in therapy I have always been very lucky to get all the right people.

Not sure if anyone is interested anymore, but I like to post this in case anyone wants to try hypnotherapy - it's the only kind of therapy that I am getting at the moment because I can't afford this plus my regular therapist.

Feeling very defeated this week due to the increase in pain and all the negative tests I've been having. I called the fibro specialist today to get the results of my M.R.I. from last week but he hasn't called me back yet - I'm sure it will be "normal" as is everything else.

When I went to see Kevin tonight (therapist) we talked about all of that stuff then he asked if I wanted to talk meditation or do the hypnosis. I chose hypnosis because my pain level is pretty high today as is my stress level.

Each time I do the hypnosis with Kevin my trance is deeper every time, as it was tonight. So he concentrated alot on the pain in my hip tonight. It was probably the best session I've had as far as isolating the pain and detaching from it.

I came out of it crying. I cried for a couple of reasons. One is that I wish I felt like that all the time, not just for 1/2 hour a week when I see him. The other reason is that I all of a sudden felt like - was the pain all in my head that I could feel this good under hypnosis for 1/2 hour? I told that to Kevin and he said absolutely not - the pain is real, it is not in my head. But that I could go into a totally relaxed state, in the proper setting, allowed me to detach from the pain.

As good as it felt, I feel incredibly sad tonight.

((( tranquility )))

I do like reading about your hypnosis.

I did not go far with it but liked it; it is an indescribably incredible feeling afterward. I wanted to feel like that all the time too.

I'm sorry you are feeling sad and that you're having pain. I'm glad the hypnosis helps the pain. I imagine it gets very tiring, exhausting to have to put up with pain so much of the time.

I hope you get to see Kevin again soon! Maybe next hynotherapy session you can work on the pain and on the sadness too?

hugs,

Regarding DID and hypnosis....(yeah, I know you refer them out)...

do you think it's possible for a person who self-hypnotizes so very easily that it happens accidently... to talk about events which did not occur? OK...like I am hypnotized, and someone asks about an event (without any prompting details) and I detail the event...but when I come to - I have NO memory of the event...

would you think the event occured? or would you think the event is some sub-conscious invention representing something else?

I know...you don't do DID....but...but what do you think?

This happened to me for 2 years in therapy (after 5 "normal" therapy years). Suddenly I was (by looking into a shiney sphere...my own discovery) talking about stuff in great detail, which as far as *I* am concerned - never happened.

Would you assume DID and send me elsewhere? or would you think...she is plugged into her subconscious and processing something else?

Campy, I can honestly say your question has me a little confused.

Memory is one of the most controversial issues regarding hypnosis.

Some claim that you can't trust any memory that comes out in hypnosis. Others believe it depends on the client and how the info was obtained. (asking leading questions)

As far as memory with self hypnosis is concerned. Usually what you remember is true, but the mind can also believe what it prefers to, especially if it is reinforced many times. You add DID into this mixture and it would be hard telling.

I'm not sure I answered your questions, but I hope this gives you some insight.
