They need therapy, yes. But do they benefit from it?

To succeed in therapy, you have to listen and consider the possibility that you might be wrong. Madame T (who cares what she thinks?) says teenagers don't get much out of therapy.

Nope. You're not an asshole. I can well believe it is trauma.

You've coped with it for years, but at what cost?

Enjoyed the vacation (the best I could). Seriously hate the routine change. T also has changes to her schedule this week. So for 3 weeks in a row I haven't had anything that resembles my normal schedule in any aspect of my life and it's not easy to handle. Hopefully soon I'll be able to adjust back to the current timezone I'm in and not the one that I left. Next week T schedule goes back to normal which will be nice.

Apparently to take my mind off my son, i now have a bad toothache! Looked at the tooth late last night and there's a black spot on the tiny part that shows under the cap i had done a couple years ago. I am petrified by dentists esp after that fiasco that was so painful. I do NOT want to have to deal with this but it hurts. Trying to get in to a different dentist today to see if they can maybe just remove the tooth. I hate going to the dentist and am shaking just thinking about it. I'm sorry I'm such a downer lately. I'm going home sick shortly then to find a dentist. Ugh.

Ugh I hate the dentist too! I called yesterday to make a cleaning appointment because I KNOW I have at least two cavities. (Cries in corner) I did request a different hygienist, because the last one would leave me so sore for a full day after, with her barbaric scraping. Then knowing I will have to go back in a week for the torture that is cavity fillings. Ugh.

Ok so I found a dentist nearby who takes my insurance and can get me in this afternoon, they have lots of good reviews online, I called my h to see if he can meet me there (because I was literally shaking when I made the appointment I have such a fear of dentists) and he redeemed himself for quite a long time by not only agreeing to meet me there, but by saying he WANTS to. Now I must go brush my teeth for an hour before I leave so they're as clean as can be.

Look at me being brave and making jokes! I'm proud of myself for taking care of this right away instead of letting my fear drag it out longer like I usually do when it comes to all things dental.

Hey all,
Art-good lick with the dentist. Hoping that all goes well.

I emailed 2 letters to my T, one is for NP and one to ex-pdoc. Nervous to see how T responds I think NP will be ok but ex-pdoc one she may think I went off my rocker. We'll see.

Home from the dentist. So nothing has been fixed yet - I have to have a root canal (of course, which I feared) and she referred me to a specialist because of how bad the tooth is (so now not only do I get the pain, but it's probably going to cost an arm and a leg too). She said the other option was to pull it, which she could have done there, but she said frankly that would hurt more and you would have more residual pain after as well. So I'm going with the root canal and made myself call the specialist from her office and scheduled it for a week from today.

Anybody with tolerable experiences of root canals you wouldn't mind sharing?

I have only had one root canal and it was actually a not bad experience. It took a long time (or seemed to take a long time) but there was no pain and afterwords I had no complications. In fact, mine was a sort of emergency - they sent me from the dentist right over to the root canal guy (special dentist sort that I don't remember) - and that afternoon I was in court with no issues. My mouth was sore from the shot to deaden everything and from the just holding it open and having stuff done - but not as bad as from some fillings. And I am a giant dental coward.

good to hear it wasn't a terrible experience. she wanted me to get it done today or tomorrow, but the endodontist or whatever they're called she referred me to couldn't get me in til next week. thanks for sharing.
