Omophorion
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the Eastern Orthodox and Eastern Catholic liturgical tradition, the omophorion (Greek: ὠμοφόριον, meaning "[something] borne on the shoulders"; Slavonic: омофоръ, omofor) is the distinguishing vestment of a bishop and the symbol of his spiritual and ecclesiastical authority. Originally of wool, it is a band of brocade decorated with four crosses and an eight-pointed star and is worn about the neck and shoulders.[1]

By symbolizing the lost sheep that is found and carried on the Good Shepherd's shoulders, it signifies the bishop's pastoral role as the icon of Christ.

Clergy and ecclesiastical institutions subject to a bishop's authority are often said to be "under his omophorion".

Earlier ther were 3 ambulances and a fire truck attending the downstairs unit where the guy I hate (who I called the cops on) lives then 2 police cars arrived. Now there is just 2 police cars and a detective's car there and plenty of photographs being taken. I really wish I knew what was going on....

BY, I'm sorry your weekend was so rough.

mandehble, losing a furry family member is so hard.

I adore salted caramel, with icecream or as toffee.
Thanks for this!

Middle dog is bugging me to turn on the a/c here. He goes and paws at the a/c registers when he gets hot.

Senior cat used to lie on the windowsills above the heating vents (old building) and wave her paw in front of them to see if heat was coming out. Then she would stare reproachfully at me until it came on.

Thanks to the vicodin I got a good night's sleep last night. Getting some heretofore neglected paperwork done this morning, doing laundry, and plan to do a cursory housecleaning today. Yesterday just kind of disappeared, after t anyway.

Dishes. Kitchen cleaning is the second worst (yard work is the absolute worst but I digress) and I've neglected it too long, so it's a lot. Rescue team to my house if I don't make an appearance on the couch by tonight?

Happy Sunday, couchies. My son found out where he's going to be doing his internship for the next 2 years. It's the company his manufacturing class is currently making parts for, and he had a good rapport with the manager that interviewed him. So he's happy with it! And very excited about his first paying job in his chosen field. He's been talking about his plans to first thing, put part of each paycheck into his savings account. The only "bill" he's going to have right now while he's living at home, is we have asked him to help pay for his car insurance. Also he'll have to cover any extras like going out with his friends. I'm proud of him for wanting to start saving right away and I hope he sticks to it! I think he said he starts working a week after school gets out. I can't believe he is going to be 18 in only 5 months!
Thanks for this!

the best thing about being a human in this situation, is that i can control the a/c. i could never live in the south without it. i get cranky if i am shut in a hot house.

kitchen is the worst. if i owned a house, maybe i'd hate yardwork--but i generally like physical tasks/being outside.

Hail, the kitchen conquering hero! Now I want to stand guard over it, sword at the ready, and do battle with the evil kitchen-mongering minions that have no respect for dry counters and shiny sinks. Instead I'm doing laundry and resting on the couch. The minions are already plotting their first strike on the defenseless land. . . Something about dinner, but I can't be bothered so we're having pizza!
Thanks for this!

If he had opposable thumbs - the house would be set at 60 degrees and all the food would be gone.
