I totally ignore those dates on food. With yoghurt - you can tell by taste if it is bad (it will taste like milk that has gone really bad) or if it is moldy - if neither of those two things happen - I eat it and go on - I have had no ill effect in over 50 years.

My mother just came by - she had a black eye after tripping and falling down on the pavement when she was in town today. (She's 82.) She was helped by a young man who passed by and helped her up, checked that she had no serious injuries, sat her down outside a shop, went in to get some wet wipes and wiped off the blood from her eyebrow, went away again to get a plaster, wanted to take her to the hospital, insisted on following her to her bus stop... I'm so grateful for helpful people. She is fine, she didn't even crack her glasses, and the only damage apart from the black eye is a small cut in her eyebrow and a slightly bruised knee. (She'd been wearing white trousers, and they were almost spotless. She was joking about how nobody was going to believe that she hadn't been in a fistfight, since the only thing that showed was the bruise over her eye!)

I'm going to keep in touch with her tomorrow to make sure that she doesn't seem confused or anything like that - I do know that head injuries can be insidious, but she was completely herself six hours after the incident.

Yoghurt tells you when it's bad, trust me The expiration is nothing like that of fresh milk, since it is soured by bacteria.

Yup. After all, best by is not the same as expires by.

Google around - apparently the USDA says foods can be good up to 18 months past the expiration date, if properly stored and sealed.

And like Crocus said the taste/smell test works pretty well.

It is taking the key people forever to get here with my keys.

Speaking of yogurt, what's with the Aussie-style yogurt I see in stores now? I know what makes Greek yogurt different, what makes this one different?

Thanks, rainbow. No, I haven't heard from her yet. Will probably at some point today, or maybe not at all. I don't know. I know she has a funeral this morning & afternoon so she'll be occupied with families until later. I just want it to be monday.

I'm feeling more 'settled'. Still off but a bit more grounded. Just miss T and wish she would let me know she's okay. When she doesn't respond I always fear that she's dead.

Siggi's Icelandic. Best yogurt ever. Lower sugar, higher protein, very silky. So good.

I dont like fatty yogurts. I start licking my lips like a kitty with cream on her whiskers, it feels funny! Or a dog eating peanut butter.

So the box of office supplies left in my new office includes:

-5 pencils (no sharpener)
-2 pens that don't work (and are gel, which I don't use)
-a box of staples but no stapler
-a tape dispenser but no tape
-a box of the teeniest-tiniest butterfly clips I've ever seen
-one paper clip

I am assuming that this is an initiation test and that I am supposed to use the paper clip to pick the locks on the other office doors so that I can acquire the full range of office supplies.
Thanks for this!

You might perhaps bend the staples around each other to form a chain and then hang the butterfly clips from them to create a festive effect?

aussie-style yoghurt is made in Colorado from an Australian family recipe. Basically just honey flavoured Greek style.
Thanks for this!

Maybe they mistook you for Macgyver. Quite obviously you need to supply your own gum and 3" long piece of string

Or you can be passive aggressive and just do no work until you receive the correct supplies....

I think the office supply suggestions would make good answers on some kind of MMPI test or Cosmo quiz: what kind of lover are you: a macguyver, a romantic, or a take two pills and call me in the morning?
Thanks for this!
