I'm really looking forward to seeing t tomorrow. It feels like it's been 3 months instead of barely over 3 weeks. Hmm.
Enjoy your you day! I love chai tea lattes. They're great iced, too (I know it sounds weird, but it's good!). Hope your T session goes well and is productive!

Hooray Gonzaga! (not that I really have any shot at winning my pool, but at least one of my brackets still has the champion in play...)

Ugh, sorry. My other bracket--the one I took MC's advice on--had Duke winning...(thanks a lot for that, MC!) I also had Louisville in both Final Fours.

I didn't do any brackets this year but definitely would have had Duke and Villanova in my final four.

Good luck you guys!

PS: I can't wait for football season!

Curious question: would you find it odd for a professional not to belong to their national professional association? (Turns out while I can complain about Smaug to the state medical board because they licensed her, I cannot complain about her to the American Paychiatric Association ethics committee because she isn't a member of either the national association or the local branch.)

I mean, I don't belong to my national professional association, but I'm in the humanities, not messing around with people's heads.

I don't find it odd at all. I'm in the psychology/social services field. I don't belong to my professional organization and haven't since I was a student. I do belong to some organizations of related fields, though. My official professional organization basically does lobbying etc. and isn't much use to me.

ETA: My organization's journal is of really low quality. I might join if the journal was worthwhile, or if I needed to be a member to get liability insurance discounts.

I don't think it's odd because many of the organizations have large fees to join and some private practioners don't feel like they get value from joining. The average client is not going care if they are a member of the APA or ACA (American Counseling Association).

Woke up at 4:30 from stupid tinnitus. It comes and goes and seems to be connected to inner ear pressure - nasal spray takes it away for a little while but I can't keep taking that. And I only hear it when I'm lying down. It is infuriating. Maybe it isn't even tinnitus, it squeaks at the same rate as my pulse. Not that it matters - it wakes me up and keeps me awake. I hope it goes away.

My body is increasingly useless. I do not like it at all.

Isn't it medication that separates psychiatrists from psychotherapists?

LOL! Sure. Really, it is all my son's hard work. He has done all of this on his own. This is my ultra-responsible son. He's worked at this, meeting all the deadlines, getting all the teacher recommendation letters, filling out all the applications, going to all the auditions, etc. Now, if we can get him through the next 9 weeks of school; his senioritis his on overload right now. He's ready to move onward.

Yes, but prescribing meds is not their only function. I think that is what Crocus is referring to.

As far as antidepressants go, I do think they are over-prescribed for mild and moderate depression, but I don't think for a second they only have a placebo effect in major depression. I've experienced too many times the improvement of my own condition with the help of AD's.

Pinched nerve sounds very painful! What's the audiobook about? (Asking because genuinely curious and also to be chatty if chattiness helps)
