(((Elio))) hope you start feeling better soon! Wish I could somehow "beam" my collection of old radio show CD's to you. Good stuff - like the old Dragnet radio show, and "The Big Show" with Tallulah Bankhead, all kinds of awesome old shows.

morning couch! i'm up early for a vacation day! just finished breakfast and now I'm heading out into the desert, will have some pics to share later. and my other plans are going to happen also - the chai tea latte on the way to t, and shopping for a new pair of jeans, and still possibly a manicure. I am taking a "me" day!!

Because I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and gosh darn it, I deserve it! (with apologies to Stuart Smalley)

On a good note, I ran into this last night online..it's DisneyWorld fireworks!
I was at DisneyWorld a few years ago. Stayed four nights five days. But I never was able to see the fireworks because I was too tired. I hope I can go one more time.
Enjoy!

CantExplain, I feel bad for not being more supportive in your thread about losing your job. I would edit or remove it, but it's too late.

My son leaves for DisneyWorld next Thursday with his choir. I'm sure he'll have great fun. My husband and I spent one day there on our honeymoon but that was when it was just the Magic Kingdom and Epcot (and we only spent our time in the Magic Kingdom). Would love to go back sometime.

I am out in the desert right now, soooo beautiful i can't tell you all just how much it feeds my soul. Taking a lot of pics to share later. This National Park is practically in my backyard... Literally only 4 miles from my house!

It isn't my first time but it is for the kids. They're really excited. I'm trying to get in the spirit but to be honest I find holidays really difficult and I know I'll miss my T and routine. I'm also scared of driving in America. Your roads are huge and everyone weaves in and out, it's terrifying.
I'm sure we'll have fun when we're there though, thanks

My pdoc knows and has told me that medication is one part of the whole picture to being not depressed, and apparently told my T that her job is moot right now bc it is mostly external factors that I need to change to pull out of the spiral I am in.

I don't know if they truly help even for more severe cases of depression either. From the articles I started going into last night (this was prompted by a clinical psychologist who sent a link to it on Tumblr), showed that all the media/big pharma hype that says anti-depressants help with a serotonin imbalance is not actually true at all. I don't know what to think anymore.

He acknowledges that it works in some cases, it improves some people's quality of life, and it can also make therapy work better, but he scoffs at the "serotonin hypothesis". Still, if it works it works, even if he can't explain why it does. He prefers to prescribe non-SSRIs, from what I understand, because he has seen too many bad side effects of the SSRIs.

Huh. I would have guessed it was distraction like cell phones - so don't do that either!

I developed a temporary driving phobia around freeways during my second marriage because future ex just relentlessly criticized my driving (funny in retrospect, because unlike him I have never caused an accident or gotten any kind of ticket for a moving violation). I kicked it with a solo cross-country drive Christmas before last. I actually feel safer on the freeways now than I do running errands on surface roads.

A lot of the national parks in the US sell kids' books that do exactly that, teach them how to identify scat. Maybe art can pick one up for you?
