Is anyone else triggered by being told to "Shut up!"? Like by a husband or significant other? Just trying to figure out if I'm overly sensitive...

Yes. That triggers me badly. I'm our home it's like saying the F word. That triggers me greatly too.

I wouldn't say triggered but offended. It's disrespectful whether it triggers you or not.

And yes, I heard that from future ex.

It's not a nice thing to say to anyone.

Thanks, all. Helps to know I'm not alone in that. H shouted it to me down the stairs in regards to something I was saying about D.

(I'd bring it up in marriage counseling tomorrow, but I'm afraid MC would say he's said that many times, so not sure it's worth it...)

Finally got around to picking up my mail for the week. To my surprise there was a letter from the state medical board - I had checked in with the lead investigator on Monday and she said she was still investigating Smaug.

The letter said that while they were investigating, they had also referred parts of my complaint to other agencies: the state office of insurance fraud (this must be about the financial complaint, even though Smaug doesn't take insurance) and the civil rights department of DHHS (for violating HIPAA?).

I don't know whether it means they're taking the complaint seriously or they're preparing to abdicate responsibility, but in general I don't like it when the feds get involved in anything.

I would bring it up. It's an issue about your marriage. If MC has said it, I would take that as a bad sign. His wall punching concerns me less.

(Sorry about combining posts -- am exhausted and off to bed)

LT -- I agree with ATAT. I wouldn't necessarily be triggered (although yes, it can bring up sudden, debilitating fear depending on the general tenor of my relationship with that person) but I would be very very concerned about the state of the relationship. And yes, if MC minimizes it or somehow dismisses your concern, I would be even more concerned. And like ATAT, male bonding over the wall-punching -- as weird as it may seem -- wouldn't bother me as much (it would though if it were part of a pattern of barely repressed rage but not as an isolated incident).

ATAT + Una: and (mother situation -- mission accomplished etc)

If im REALLLLLY getting on somebodys nerves cuz im bouncing off the walls, i would give them a pass if they kinda blurted it out in the heat of passion. Or if theyre juggling a bunch of stuff. Wasnt the last time he did this, he was fixing the plumbing?

I mean, is it fair to expect more self control from your partner than you demand of yourself? I dont know if that applies to anyone elses situation, but it usually applies to mine. I tend to be a happy humpy puppy type.

I might not especially like it depending on the situation. Sometimes it would be just fine.
I would not be triggered by it. Although the definition of triggered seems to vary wildly from person to person. Just being upset or not liking it would not be trigger to me.

And exhankster humpy puppy - oh good lord. How to get that image out of my mind...

I made some kettle corn (not my favorite but I added a lot of salt - just wanted to see if it was hard or not - it is very easy to make at home) am watching Grease. I think Stockard Channing is very attractive.

I hate it when my partner snaps at me to "Shut up". I instantly feel silenced and afraid to talk.

LT, hugs to you.

Demunie, saw your post in the Dear T thread. Hugs to you, big soft hugs <3

My CEO reprimanded me via email.

Of cos SO reminds me I choose to stay in this job. I feel I can't quit though I know I can. I know everyone in my offline life including my SO is fed up with my stupid whining about this job I so obviously am a ****** mismatch for. I'm more scared of quitting and having to go thru many months of unemployment together with declaring my MH conditions on every job application, and getting lectured everyday by my father for being useless than leaving this job.

Hugs... you can rant here as much as you want, that's better than suffering quietly... why do you have to declare your MH-Condition on applications?

And your dad is wrong

It was one of those days in session today. I was saying how I wouldn't miss certain things in the old house like the metal rod sticking out of the ground
l
Possible trigger:

then I was describing it and as I said thick reinforcing rod like they use in concreting I became a little aroused not to mention the motions I was making with my hands. I felt bad about it I hope he didn't notice.
