I use "no worries," mostly with students. Kind of to convey a casual, laid-back atmosphere (so they can relax and stop bugging me about whatever they're worried about).

Hi Everyone, sorry I haven't been on much, I've been crazy busy as a Realtor in the Spring Market plus I'm covering for a colleague's 2 week vacation, so twice the amount of work during a crazy busy time.

Anyhow, I went for a walk tonight and walked by my ex-T's office (it's only 1 block away, so not out of my way or anything) and walked right through her usual on-street parking space and had a brilliant idea. Since she parks pretty much in the exact same spot ever day because she gets in so early, I thought that I'd drop a few of my business cards on the ground as a way of saying hi. Luckily, I decided not to, but tonight is NOT the first time that I've thought of doing that! Hopefully, I will continue to refrain or find another walking route.

On top of that, I had smoked some marijuana on my walk (it's Legal here) and would have been fine if I didn't have to interact with anyone but decided to buy a couple of groceries. I was standing in line and started to feel really anxious and was fighting having a panic attack. Luckily, I was able to get through the transaction and make it home without incident.

Have a great night everyone!

He's in his early 50's. But he also works a lot with teens in his practice, so he may try to use stuff that's more current slang or whatever (I sound so old saying that, like "He's using that newfangled vocabulary! I'm 40, btw). I think he tends to mean it as either "no problem" or "it's OK." Like once, when I called him in the middle of the night (and he answered) while in crisis over a year ago, I e-mailed him the next morning and apologized for waking him up. His response was "No worries, LT."

I have a similar cut, chin length on the long side. Alas, no fun colors for me either. It's super fun, get compliments on it all the time, and it's surprisingly flattering on my double chin. Go for it!

I use it all the time. Shorthand for "no problem and do not worry about it." I feel young and hip now!

I doubt I would even notice if either of my Ts said "no worries" vs. "no problem" vs. something similar.

But it is the only thing if added to the list that it is possible for me to be. The others are not an option. I suppose one could convert to judaism but as I am an athiest-it is even less probable than me becoming a therapist.

I had no idea "no worries" was an Australian thing?

I'm not sure I actually say it (maybe i have), but it isn't anything out of the ordinary if I heard it come out of anyone else's mouth (T included).

Pretty sure Americans picked it up from the Crocodile Dundee movies.

G'day mate!

Scottish. Irish. English (sorry do not know nearly enough to distinguish). Australian.

I love them all! I think Americans have the worst accents, with Bostonians being #1 (sorry any bostonians! i have family from there!)

I also hate my accent (Western/Upstate NY)
Thanks for this!

i think it's funny when people say i have an accent - i'm from the boring-midwest-usa, about as un-accented as a person can get!!

Lifelong Bostonian here but happy to report that I do NOT have much of a Boston accent! I cannot stand the thick local accent as it sounds so uneducated. We have some incredibly bright people here but they ruin it with their accent. (IMO)

My cousins do it...and I am like "Dude, can't we use another word here?" haha.

Yes, a true Bostonian (even a middle-aged one like me) definitely has "wicked" in their vocabulary as in, "I'm wicked tired" or "wicked hungry" meaning I'm VERY Tired or VERY hungry.

I also get a chuckle from folks from the Pittsburgh area who drop the verb "to be" as in, "The roof needs fixed" or the "cake needs baked." No offense meant to anyone from Pittsburgh.
Thanks for this!

Wicked is perfectly good New England slang. Started in Maine decades ago.

Accents are fascinating to study - attitudes towards them often have their roots in classism or regionalism. Flat unaffected Midwestern accents tend to be mocked by those on the coasts. Boston accents are associated with the Irish, who used to be discriminated against in this country (NINA in job ads = no Irish need apply). Studies of kids hearing different American accents usually result in "Northern" (think New York) accents being seen as characteristic of higher intelligence, while Southern accents are "stupid."

(Note I said roots - not accusing anyone here of any -isms.)
Thanks for this!
