I had a dream last night that my current therapist got me into swinging. Like sex parties.. Which is what former T did . I woke up from it at 5am feeling hella freaked out.. And immediately used.. Blah.. Hate myself

Mmm, i hope zipcar sends me another moon pie soon! I dont like graham crackers enough to actually buy them for myself, and i like them too well to not eat the whole box (uh, i think im getting mixed up on my double negatives there!), and if i bought myself a moonpie i would definitely be eating it waiting at the bus stop on the way home!

Don't let's ask for the moonpie. We have the zipcars.

Son and I went to Taco Bell for dinner. He got home shortly after I did and was about to turn around and leave again to go to his friends house, but I bribed him with dinner so I could see him for a little bit.

What happens if a person refuses treatment for cancer? Will doctors try to send the person to a mental hospital?

Over here no one can force you have treatment (unless you are mentally ill and won't take your meds etc) but general medical stuff they cannot force anyone. When I was nursing people refused cancer treatment but I don't know about if you are mentally ill and informed consent etc.

YES. My T said it is a common symptom of depression that no one really talks about.

I think your insurance might get mad. My dr says my insurance is always bugging him about me not getting tests performed in a timely manner, and then somebody gets punished, i am blanking on how.

But basically i think you have a right to refuse treatment. But then you may give up other rights as a result? Does your dr still have to treat you? Idk. But i dont think they would call you mental. Just whats the word non-compliant?

Why would insurance get mad? They might if you're not doing preventative care (on the theory that saves them money), but being told they don't have to shell out tens of thousands for chemo?

I'm pretty sure mentally competent adults have a right to refuse treatment for themselves (it was part of my complaint against Smaug - I think one of the parts that got referred to the civil rights division of DHHS). Court cases for forcing treatment seem to involve kids usually, often with parents whose religion forbids medical treatment.

I don't think the doctors will send someone to a mental hospital. I just think they would try to talk the person into getting the treatment for cancer, but no..nobody can force a person to get it with threats of being placed in a mental hospital.

Thanks. Ive heard stories of people with anorexia being force fed, and it sounded horrible. Same with people who tried to sui but were saved and their life was worse afterwards. I wondered if there were similar actions for health conditions.

I dont know her that well but know she doesnt have a psychotic disorder, i just think shes tired of suffering, is exhausted, and feels she has nothing to live for and wants the pain to stop. A way to sui without hurting others (sparing children of guilt and hurt).

Its sad, but it seems people have a right to autonomy. I certainly understand what its like to feel urelenting pain.

Yes, adults in the US who are legally competent to consent can refuse medical treatment. I assume in those scenarios that the doctor would just get something in writing (if possible) to say that the patient is refusing treatment. You know, because liability is a thing.

Children are indeed different. Even if a parent wants to refuse treatment for a child, courts err on the side of medicine to protect the child's welfare. This bothers the religious bodies that assert they know what's best for their children.

What is a jw? And it depends. It is not always as clear cut as a competent person gets to refuse treatment-but usually you can leave an mds office and just not go back. My person refused some treatment and they tried to pressure her into it. She refused and they wrote her a you're going to die letter and that was it.
