I am drinking Crown Royal Northern Rye Whisky. I have had about three mouthfuls and am well on my way to inebriation. No head for alcohol.

Art, you are like the most forgiving client ever.

She gets paid to put up with a lot from you - which I suspect is a heck of a lot less than you think and a heck of a lot less than you put up with from her.
Thanks for this!

True, that's what she gets paid for. But still. I know I must be so annoying.

Art...you are not. That is low self-esteem and over-empathicness and fear of rejection talking. You are quite awesome as you are.

Thanks. So are you.

I'm falling asleep at the keyboard but I still have 1/4 glass of wine and I refuse to waste it, it's all gone after this. Need to go to Trader Joe's tomrrow and restock.

I never worry about the therapist being annoyed. The woman is paid for her time and she doesn't do anything and, as long as she does not tell me about it, she can really sit there and think about anything she wants for 50 minutes.
Frankly it would be a bonus if I did annoy her - at least it would mean she was paying a modicum of attention

I WISH i had no head for acohol. Even thouh I am small, apparently my head for boose (mis-spelled correctly!) is MUCH bigger than yours, I think Art has gone into some deep and dark places with her T, and that doesn't necessarily means she is extremely forgiving.

I do NOT think you are annoying!

I am constantly amazed and in awe of your therapy wiht your t. I am not sure if it you,or it is her, or maybe it is a crazy combination of both of you..but you guys go deep. I don't even think I want that, but I am envious of it!
Thanks for this!

I think it's the crazy combination of both of us, yes we do certainly do some deep work. That's her forte. Thanks.

SD, what if there was a go fund me to gather up all the therapists and send them to live on a remote island in the Pacific? Would you contribute?
There ain't no mountain high enough,
Ain't no valley low enough,
Ain't no river wide enough,
Ain't no Pacific Island remote enough,
to send me therapist to.

One of the effects of therapy is that the patient becomes more assertive. And the therapist cops it first. (The patient starts pushing back at T.)

Morning couch. Have you ever been called a pushover? Do you think it's derogatory?

It depends on the context for me. When I was a kid I was a bit of a pushover and called one by adults. Back then it was just people stating a fact. Like "Hey Jersey, you need to stand up for yourself and stop being a pushover" It would make me feel bad when people said to me but it was the gods honest truth. I was a pushover.

Now I'm mean. lol.

I'm called this a lot, also by friends. I think they're just stating a fact... It still hurts.
Why do you ask? Have you been called that recently?

I am a pushover, in my private life. My boss used the word to describe my willingness to take on any task and said she knows if she gives me something to do it will be done correctly and on time. I never thought that quality was negative, but the term feels negative to me. I'm hoping it was just a poor word choice and not a judgement.

You doing your job correctly and getting things done on time is not being a pushover. That's being efficient and professional. Now, if you are super busy at work with a bunch of other tasks that need to be done and boss thinks to herself "Well, I can't find anyone else to do this, so even though I know Stressed Messed is incredibly busy, I'm going to go give this to her anyway because I know she won't say she doesn't have time" Well, then that's her taking advantage and using the word pushover would be considered judgmental.( That's a reflection on her -not you.) However if it's just a matter of giving you the task because she knows your one of her best employees, then that would mean she used a poor word choice. I'd try to let it go and just ask her what she means if she ever uses the term again.
Thanks for this!
