Welcome to the couch, old and new! A place to hang out - sometimes you get immediate feedback, sometimes you don't.

---------

Shouting, "Cool Whip" tends to bring others out from between the cushions if you're feeling lonely.

This is a chatty thread. All are welcome. We're kind of psychologically oriented, sometimes. We try to be supportive. At times we discuss what that means.

It’s a place to plop down on the couch when you come home from work or wherever, or wake up in the middle of the night, or check in at lunch, rant a bit or not, and be among friends.

We advise you not to drink or drug and text your therapist ("t") - we speak from experience...

Sometimes the thread moves fast and you might get overlooked; sometimes it moves slowly and all you hear are crickets. Sometimes you get hugged or thanked pages later. So if it's a bigger question, you might want to start a new thread.

Navajo Rabbit = Gah!

Grab a cushion and make yourselves comfy!

Anyway, I sometimes refer to myself as a we or us when talking about myself or more specifically to myself. Such as... "it's ok, we're going to be ok". I don't always talk like that; however, it is frequent enough for me to notice. Also, I do find myself associating significantly different personality traits to different ages, genders.
Is it maybe for comfort? Like, it's a way to make you feel like it's not just you vs. whatever?

I had a dream last night about a bear. It was a friendly bear though. Kinda like the Bernstein bear family. Totally weird and funny at the same time. I obviously need to change careers and stop spending my time around children.

When you envision this "conversation" what do you see?? Just yourself or a group?? People do have different modes of personality based on environmental circumstances. To a degree that is the average persons experience. As with everything pretty much, i think it's a spectrum. I think. People have different levels of ego fragmentation. I guess where i would pay attention is to if this issue is causing me problems in my daily functioning (including social)

Not sure if this applies, but according to the IFS model, we all have different parts to our personalities, so it is natural to talk about them separately in therapy or other times. It doesn't mean your personality is fragmented. People might think we're weird if we do that too much, though!
Thanks for this!

Before I go into a new class each semester and for the first few classes after that or right before a really adversarial proceeding in court - I do that bit out of All that Jazz - but without the drugs.
I also do it before therapy appointments. Showtime

I think for me it is less of a weird thing and more of a this-is-how-I-am thing.

Ok... I asked moderators to move the we/us to its own thread, I thought doing it that way would move all linked replies. It didn't.. so I have now manually moved all the replies so they would be in that thread. Sorry for any confusion.
Thanks for this!

Cooling my heels in CW's "waiting room," I.e., the bench outside her door.

I swear if she's keeping another client late, when I was already two minutes late deliberately...she's gone over with me, but *never* into the next appointment, mainly because I would not allow it.

And of course it's a married couple.

Ugh... I just got put back on that awful project at work. Hoping it's just for this afternoon. My very first call back on it demanded a supervisor... The past couple weeks I've been relearning my normal job, forgetting the project stuff, now I'm supposed to just immediately remember the project? Ugh. I am stopping for a bottle of wine on the way home.

I got flagged for my signature being in untranslated latin because we are an "english language site"

That was nice while it lasted. Slow day for the mods maybe?

But thanks for the temporary motto @@

My mom once looked into getting a medical license in a different state because my parents were thinking of moving. They told her they wouldn't be able to give her one because her diploma was in Latin...a foreign language.

ETA: how about using pig Latin?
