Soo Walmart went a little better today except I was 20 minutes late hahah. Oops.

Did more computer training til 8pm. Got done early so I went up front and they put me with the same cashier as last night who is a young girl around my age with purple and blue and grey hair. We got along and stuff so I felt comfortable. I got to ring customers up. It went smooth.

The girl cashier asked me if I know (guys name) that works in the McDonald's in the store. I said no I don't know anyone here. She said oh he was asking about you. I said why. She said I guess he thinks you're cute. I said I'm too old for all that. She said he just turned 19.LOL

Go back to work tomorrow 9a-6p

My roommates are back after a week away. -__-

I got back the bloodwork results from my doctor's office today. My cholesterol was high (which it has been in the past, but had gone down), and my blood sugars were elevated, and this was combined with my blood pressure being high at the actual appointment. I did say that I saw my urologist the day before and it was normal (a tad high, but normal-ish)
ANWAY, the nurse wants me to go back in to do another blood draw so they can screen for pre-diabetes. I heard the word diabetes and freaked the eff out.
I am pretty sure this is all because I quit roller derby in January, and basically have exercised zero since then, and mostly subsist on a diet of peanut butter and chocolate. But STILL, food and diet has always been a thing I struggle with, and I don't feel like I have been SO off the rails, considering I've seen this doctor for like 13 years or something and this is the first this has ever happened.

Anyway. I feel really awful about it all. It only makes me want to hate myself more, and I am trying to avoiding SH over it. I also want to never eat again.
Not sure if this will help...

V - my impression is that prediabetes is like prehypertension. It's like being put on academic probation. It's a warning, with possible medication. It is not an ineluctable fate.

There's also the possibility of white coat syndrome if your BP changed drastically within 24 hours. My BP is fine at the dentist's and the gynecologist's (it was even fine at Smaug's), but it jumps at my PCP's.

Me too. The test is crap but I thought the article was interesting for the stuff it talked about later (uncertainty around the parameters for the actual bloodwork stuff and the "diagnosis" of pre-diabetes) -- it's unfortunate that they started with the test.

So, potential problem with seeing t this week. Go figure, the week I was thinking about canceling I might actual have to cancel because of scheduling conflict with my daughter's dance thing.

I can call the office on Monday and see if he has any earlier openings, he most likely won't. ☹️

I'm too afraid to click that link. I am a HOT MESS right now over this (and other things, but mostly this).

I have white coat syndrome, but I truly like my doctor and it hasn't been high in a long time there. I was extra stressed that day bc my co-teacher said she was giving a 2 weeks notice and it freaked me out. That could have been part of it. But still.

I hope you dont' have to cancel, and if you do, he can re-schedule you for some other point next week.

diabetes is becoming an endemic ... they project , i think it was, 1 in 3, or 4 people in the next decade or so will be diabetic. mostly Type 2 which is the kind you acquire ..mostly caused by diet. my family has lots of type 2 diabetes in it.... i really think most of the cause of this is because of the availability of processed, sugary , food... its so much cheaper... and people need cheap. its also interesting how supermarkets blueprint their stores and shelves to target people into purchasing...junk.

Since May 16th, I've . . .

Attended my son's wedding,
Lost my mother,
Been to another son's graduation,
Traveled 500 miles south,
Attended my mother's funeral,
Attended my mother's interment,
Traveled back 500 miles home,
Attended my son's college orientation,
Attended a weeklong advanced placement institute.

I'm tired.

But I have a couple weeks now of downtime until I head back down to spend a couple of weeks with my dad. I'm looking forward to what will hopefully be a few weeks of complete boredom.

i'm taking some days off work around my birthday, but i don't have any idea what i'm going to do with myself with 5 days off in a row. One of the days I need to go over to the college and get my residency corrected, somehow when I applied it listed me as non-resident and I can't figure out how to fix it online. If the weather cools off any, I will go hiking one day for sure. If not, I may just spend the 5 days at the pool... I got off work a little early yesterday and swam laps before going to t, the water felt sooo wonderful. It was practically warm even, not surprising lately!

I simply don't go to mds. If one lets those people muck about for long enough - they are going to find something they want to treat. I don't agree that everything is a condition. So I don't bother with them. To me, that is how everyone ends up taking countless pills and undergoing tests all the time.

If you paid tuition as a non resident wouldn't it be way more than you should pay as a resident?

I know. But, I do trust my doctor, and really I know I've been treating my body carelessly by not exercising at all, and living off peanut butter and chocolate. And drinking.

There is something really wrong with my dog. I don't see other dogs tipping the bowl of dry food over and rolling in it. Plus he does this weird scratching in mid air thing.

Remember you were a hot mess over what turned out to be kidney stones?

It wasn't cancer.

It wasn't diabetes.

You had to have an annoying, alarming procedure and deal with hospitals, but it turned out OK, right?

So, wait till the shoe actually drops before becoming a hot mess? Odds are this will be okay and/or eminently treatable too.

And may I also say that I suspect the rise in "pre-diabetes" may be due in part to the worship of "preventative medicine" (which to my mind is a great way to sucker more patients into getting tests or medications they don't need, making them more dependent on their doctors, etc.)? As well as the usual better diagnostic techniques, etc.
