I need to get out of bed......I think.

I am way too pissed off to see current T tonight.

And yet, other non-therapy crapola stuff happening means not going to therapy may be worse.

Maybe.

Hugs to you, chihirochild, and anyone else who needs one.

I've finally gotten out of bed myself. Trying to motivate myself to do anything productive is another task entirely.

I've done twice a week therapy for almost 11 months now. I normally pay his lower cost fee of £40 per session. My schedule is causing problems as I can't keep my old tuesday slot time. I emailed asking for an alternative slot- he said the only thing he could offer would be a monday at 7 but that he charges extra (£60) for sessions after 5pm and to confirm if I wanted it.

When I've been very ill I've paid for three sessions, but I can't justify paying £20 extra because it adds up to an extra 2 sessions each month just for my normal sessions. I don't feel like I'm ready to drop down to one session a week, when in fact I secretly wanted a third session, because I really I don't feel well right now. Maybe it will be good for me or maybe it will send me off the rails. It irritates that he can be there for others but not me.

On a positive note: I'm on day three of a 30 day gym challenge. And 20 cards away from finishing my immunology syllabus early!

((Chihiro)) sending many hugs to you.

...and ((Cake))... that sucks You could either pay the extra for a bit, or go down to one session for a bit, with the assumption that at some point a more suitable slot will open up? Not ideal but it seems like it might not necessarily last too long. Depends how busy/changeable his schedule is I suppose.
Thanks for this!

I think I will stick with the one session and try to save some money for a bit.Our academic year is split into winter and summer semesters so it does changes again after Christmas exam season is done. I'm excited about Christmas though I don't think I will be going home this year.

How are you doing Luc?

What about doing twice weekly for one week, once the next, twice the one after that etc.?
Also is there no way your T could forgo the extra money? Maybe if you told him how much you're struggeling with the thought of only once weekly?

Well, whatever you choose to do I hope it turns out okay

I'm alright. Had an extremely bad week in general but my session on Thursday was good. I am feeling good about T2.

I have today off work and I've just been sitting around doing nothing. It's pretty good.

Maybe.

I had to translate this post into my language.

You know, that's pretty much exactly how it feels -- thank you for that, really.

Btw, speaking of your language, I presume you've already seen it but on the off-chance that you haven't -- the NYT has done a Sunday magazine profile of Emily Wilson ('Homer's Daughter').

(Progress report -- got out of bed.....mostly coz of going beyond the optimal level of dread required to continue staying in bed.)

I’ve always liked the idea that a woman composed the Odyssey. Preferably Penelope, after Odysseus got home and then trotted off again.

You could ensure a lively session by telling current t she’s just like Scylla.

I have to clean the apartment as my mother is visiting later this week. Instead I am eating chicken cordon bleu mac and cheese from the deli two doors down.

ETA: ooh, and I have cookies. Nobody tell una...

I'm totally down with Odysseus not being the real hero.

I fear I'll have to explain the Scylla reference to current T (don't mind me -- am feeling particularly spiteful).

If you don't clean up, I presume you'll garner some disapproval but the upside could be that she cuts short her visit (or moves to a hotel)?

Wait, didn’t she study English lit or something? How about telling her that Scylla is a Very Important Symbol in your culture and here’s some paper and a pen with which she can oh-so-earnestly take notes? (I’m really starting to dislike this woman, sorry.)

Eh, the apartment is not actually that bad. Mostly dust and vacuuming up the litter the cats track about because it sticks to their paws.

She’s not here long, just a couple days for her informal annual Rosemary Hall reunion. She actually offered to stay for the divorce hearing, but I think I won’t want to deal with anyone except maybe Johnny Walker that day.

ETA: Atwood’s Penelopiad for Penelope as the hero.

Mine probably does. She reads a lot (based on the references she makes to this and that 'old story'.)

It's been so long since I've read the Odyssey. Definitely don't remember enough to contribute to the conversation.

For Halloween, though, I had a girl in my 4th period class who dressed up as something obviously Greek, and she came up to me and asked if I knew who she was. So I replied, "Athena? Persephone?"

She laughed and looked at me like I was stupid. "No, Mrs. Daisy! I'm a Greek goddess."

Ah, of course. The innocence and ignorance of youth.

I have a pounding headache now from that way too loud music earlier. Said headache is making me angry at son and I want to go yell at him something like "If you have the energy required to play music loud enough that it hurts my head and probably killed some birds, you have enough energy to get your *** back in the house and clean up your room." (His room isn't bad enough to warrant me going out and yelling that at him and embarassing him in front of his friends, but damn it, my head hurts!!)

I did it anyway. Told them they need to find another place to practice because after they showed absolutley ZERO concern today for myself and our neighbors, they have lost the priviledge of practicing here. I am proud of myself. I didn't go passive-aggressive on them, I didn't start crying, but I did let them know that I was angry in a controlled, level voice.

Way to go, Art! Can't say that I would have handled that situation well myself. I would have either said nothing, meekly ask them to be quiet, or gone nuclear.

In a seeming attempt at an apology, she decided to tell me that she was thinking of her "personal context" because her husband is Italian -- when I looked suitably incredulous as her last name (she took her husband's) is as English as it can get, she corrected herself and said his mother is Italian

And, so therefore somehow he (similar to me) would apparently have a "very hard time" with cutting off family unlike her (and her, I dunno, devoid-of-all-culture-from-anywhere-at-all self).

In response, I wanted to say....."We are all Italian today".

And, follow up with relevant references from Dante's Inferno.
