I broke my ankle yesterday and am using that as an excuse to do absolutely nothing today. I have things on my to do list that can be done sitting down, but I am being lazy. It seem since I got depression, though resolved in many aspects, it somehow damaged my reward system.

Relax.

Let's switch places...I need to do work but am being lazy. Could use the motivation.

You're not being lazy. Breaking your ankle sounds very painful and the suggested advice would be as much rest as possible.

It's possible to buy an external cd drive for laptops.I would be hurt in that situation too.

What is this trend where little to no information about the product is included on the site, leading to everyone asking questions just to get basic information (like the size/dimensions)?

Seeing this more and more and am perplexed. Most of the time I move on rather than submit a question (who waits to get information on things that are sold everywhere??) and wait for a reply. But it's difficult to shop with this trend.

I found golf more fun to play than softball. And going to a golf tournament is more fun for me because I usually walk the course following one or two players rather than just sitting there. And I find the crowd a lot more interesting at lpga tournaments (more lesbians at the Dinah Shore week/lpga tournament than at any baseball game ever) than I do at mlb games.

Pet Lovers of the Couch

I've inherited an elderly dog. I've never seen an animal with a mouth as bad as this one. It's just so horrible. The teeth she does have are BLACK. Tartar, decay, death. The smell is indescribable. It's just awful. I can't imagine how this couldn't be incredibly painful and causing systemic bad health.

I've a consultation at the vet on Monday. They're going to quote a price that will make me cry.

Is it worth going to different vets to get quotes? Do prices actually differ from vet to vet? Is there a way to negotiate prices - or to do only that which is absolutely necessary? I would love to get some advice from folks who have experience with this sort of thing.

In my city, the humane society has a lower cost clinic, there are some vets who will do payment plans or lower costs in certain situations, and there are some programs for those with lower income. I would also check with any senior dog rescue organizations that are in your area as they might know of some resources.

Thanks, SD. I actually hadn't thought to check with the humane society. I know they do low-cost spay and neuter, but it had never occurred to me to check with them for other vet care.

There's also some charities that can help with vet bills. I don't know any off the top of my head, but I do know they're out there. When my first dog passed, the vet donated to one of the charities in my dogs name. It was such a sweet gesture.

When someone asks you to do something evil would you do it? I'm kinda surprised at the people who would.

No I wouldn't do anything evil, especially to animals but I'm not surprised many people would, I've not met many great people in my life

I find most people are trying to do the right thing. Not therapists of course, but real people.
Evil is subjective and relative. Not black and white.

There have been psycholigical experiments that show that we all are capable of doing horrible things. It doesn‘t mean we are all evil, but we all have it in us.

For me it depends on how you define evil. For me evil means purposely harming a living being (be it a person, animal, etc.) I think stealing from
Someone is evil, too.

Argo- Where I live, vets charge wildly different prices depending on location, popularity of the practice, etc. We actually take our dog to a vet in the neighboring town rather than the closest one.

I like sd's suggestion. Even if the humane society doesn't offer those kind of dental services to the public, they might be able to give suggestions for vets that charge more reasonable rates or are willing to lower charges for rescue animals.

Poor pup.

P.S. Our rescue cat became very ill the day after we brought him home. I wouldn't exactly recommend this, but I started crying on the phone when the vet tech told me what the cost was going to be. They waived some of their fees.

We call him our thousand dollar cat, which is only a slight exaggeration.

A pretty good excuse, in my opinion.

Anyone here watch the Hallmark Christmas movies? They can be super cheesy but they seem to be uplifting at times too.

I always say, when i had my kitties spayed, i had to leave a satchel full of unmarked bills next to the mailbox by the vets office.
