i don't find it patronizing for thanking someone to do their job, i think it is polite.
Thanks for this!

Yesterday's lack of motivation is gone. I slept in this morning then washed more dishes than I thought we owned, made breakfast, washed those dishes, cleaned the bathroom, straightened the laundry room, and cleaned the kitchen. The little helped with a little argument, not enough to dissuade me, more a token protest. I'm saving the worst for last, the living room, home currently to every toy, game, and art supply she owns. Why don't they mess up the private areas of the house instead of the damn room the front door opens into?!

Tomorrow is a holiday for me but she still has school, so I still have to get up early. Might take the opportunity to declutter some of the junk, I mean toys, that she scatters everywhere while she's out. My oldest comes back tonight from a weekend babysitting my nephew, it will be nice to have some one on one time with her.

Hopefully you're all having a great weekend, not cleaning up other people's messes.

But you’re kissing cows! Is that the mark of a gentleperson?

I see nothing wrong with kissing a cow one knows, but I would not kiss stranger cows. I would not want to invade their sense of personal space.

I bet Donald never thanks his driver.

If you kept me out of prison or saved my house from an angry ex, I would thank you.

Apparently one must endure thank you's even where one does not find it pleasant or even relevant. It seems to be more for the thanker's sake than the thankee's from what I am reading here.
I find it less odd when a client thanks me than when a student does for any particular lecture or class.

The cow kissing old lady phrase was one of my favorite grandmother's favorite sayings.

I just went and got some loaves of bread from these people who go around and pick up what the charities don't take (often there is too much for them to take it all) from local bread shops. It is really good.

I think one of the many differences between us is that you watch afv and I do not.
I would not do so even if I was offered money to do so. In fact, if there is a hell and I get sent to it, I am sure my version will be condemned to sit in a room where improvisational jazz interchanged with rap is playing while they show afv on the televisions 24 hours a day. For eternity.

At first when you said what is wrong with people - I thought you might have meant what is wrong with people that they video tape accidents and send them to a television show so that they can mock and humiliate the participants. But then I realized you were talking about what is wrong with the people who have the accidents. I don't have the answer but I don't think it is videotape it and put it on television. I also don't understand why people videotape their misbehaving children or pets and subsequent punishments and post it on the internet.

Then again, I don't take many photos or videos myself.
I don't find puns funny either.

I always thought it was a pretty universal trait to laugh when other people fall? Isn't AFV just another version of that?
