I think MRSA presents differently. I had a heat reaction that sounds similar. It was everywhere and all strange and bumpy.

I slept all of 3 hours last night, but did manage to finish and turn in my last assignment for my first grad class. The class ends tonight and then I have a 2 week break until the next class starts. I see T in a few hours. I keep saying I want to talk about stuff and he says we'll keep talking about it. But then I get in there and have shut down and talked about other things.

susannah i hope you get to the bottom of whatever it is soon so you can start feeling better. when i had shingles (I was still 56 at the time) in late april/may it was sooooo very painful. they were little red bumps in clusters around the right side of my torso. I know they say they're only on one side, but i'm a firm believer in our bodies don't always follow the textbooks. at the hospital the night I went to the ER they told me that most of the pain i was feeling was probably from the shingles, and less of it from my appendix thing. (Not sure I believe them, but... there it is.) whatever it is, feel better soon.

I hope you can figure it out, Susannah. My skin is really sensitive and reactive, and I often have various bumps and rashes appearing, sometimes to be gone an hour later. Others last, and I've had to use eczema cream for those. Or taken an allergy med, like Benadryl or Zyrtec. Is it possible they're some sort of allergic reaction? You could try taking an oral allergy med to see if that helps. And, possible gross warning, do they have white dots in the middle like pimples can get sometimes? If so, they could be staph (not necessarily MRSA)--I ended up with that on my leg a few years ago and had to take antibiotics. Those were rather painful though. I'd get another opinion if they don't go away or start getting better in next day or so. Doesn't sound like shingles though (I thought that was what was going on when I had staph, but it wasn't the right pattern).

I didn’t see T Monday because he is doing yet another CEU thing. So far I have done pretty well with this skipped session but it is starting to get to me. This time it is because I am REALLY wanting to process something with him and think I will be able to ask to do that in session. I also know he always comes back from these training things on a kind of high and usually is at his best. I think this is the first time I have really wanted to bring something to therapy to work on. I always kinda showed up saying I have PTSD and then let the therapist guide everything from there. I want to sit in the corner but he did share that the thought of me sitting curled up in the corner upset him.

I just went over the proposed edits for my second story. It was virtually all "remove this comma" and "consider a comma here." I didn't agree with most of them, but said fine, except for the two suggested using the comma for "and" that made the sentence nonsense.
ETA: Okay, Couch poll: do you use a comma before a conjunction connecting two independent clauses? For instance, “I saw a Martian, but he ran away from me” or “I saw a Martian but he ran away from me”? Last edited by atisketatasket; Jul 17, 2019 at 07:38 PM. |

I have 3 of my 7 poem edits done for my final portfolio. Working on #4 now... heading out of town tomorrow morning for a long weekend up north and will be working on my 'poetic statement' paper from up there. It's all due Tuesday, the day after we get back home!

My ex has a girlfriend and I like her. On first seeing her I heard Deliverance banjos but she is quite nice and i would probably get in a canoe with her.

I love commas, but sometimes I use them and sometimes I don't.
![]() I often read the sentence out loud and comma where I pause. Or just sprinkle them in liberally and then take them out later, kind of like planting too many carrots and thinning the row.

We were supposed to go on a family camping trip but the campground is temporarily closed. We may try another campground tomorrow, but I'm considering just chucking the whole idea and cleaning the house instead.
The soon-to-be ex is suddenly acting weird. I've been on edge all afternoon. Not sure whether I should ask, Hey, what's going on? or just not poke the bear. AND, to top it all off, I am suddenly noticing my commas.

T and I were able to spend most of my session tonight talking about the hospital. We agreed it is a good idea for me to go in. He's going to call and talk to 2 places he likes tonight or in the morning, and then tomorrow when I see him we're going to make a plan. I am scared out of my mind. The last time I was in a psych hospital was 3 years ago. I have all these fears like them telling me I'm being manipulative not hearing anything I'm saying. What if they think I'm overreacting to all of what's going on. T thinks I shouldn't tell H until I'm about to go, because of his reaction. He's not going to be happy with me at all. I'm already telling myself that maybe this is a bad decision and I can keep toughing it out by myself. I feel stupid for agreeing to this voluntarily. I don't even know how that works out here to voluntarily admit yourself. Will they see my SH and change it to involuntarily? I hate the unknowns. It feels safer to avoid it altogether.

I tend to do the former, but I'm not sure which is technically correct. Either way, the sentence makes sense.

Okay, so the comma coming before a conjunction indicates a change of subject in the next independent clause, but no comma if the subject of the second clause is the same as the first clause?

Well, if you said, "I saw a Martian, but I walked away," then there would be a comma because you're including a subject again. At least, that's how I handle it, and I've managed to hold a copy-editing job for a while ![]() Though there are certain rules that are still rather unclear to me. |

I just told a student they could remember the meaning of cata- (under, down, below) by thinking of cats, because cats are always under something—feet, furniture, etc.

Warning rant ahead iammarriedtoa64yearoldchild he had a dr appointment today during the time i was out doing a social responsibility thing with a coworker. he called me from the dr's office mid-temper-tantrum because they wanted him to fill out new paperwork (like they do every few years, this is normal) oh, the horrors. so i had to walk him through filling out the paperwork over the phone so he didn't just cancel his appointment. then he came home and ate half a container of chocolate frosting (!) and now he has gone to bed moaning and groaning because he has a stomach ache. well duh, genius, what did you THINK would happen if you ate that much frosting?! I swear I just do NOT understand that man. Although there may be method to his madness. Since he is now in bed, that means I have to do all the packing for our trip. As usual. I have half a mind to pack nothing for him. Would serve his stupid *** right. Rant over.

I forget. What class are you teaching? It sounds intriguing. Word origins are interesting. The only thing I've learned recently is that the plural of octopus is not octopii, but octopuses because octopus is Greek not Latin. I hope I got that correct.
